Re: Most profound lyric personally? Time (DSOTM) I think it describes the passing of time in a very accurate way, despite it's a strange concept to talk about

Re: Most profound lyric personally? Day after day, love turns grey Like the skin of a dying man Night after night, we pretend it's all right But I have grown older and You have grown colder and Nothing is very much fun any more...... Sums up being in a dysfunctional relationship perfectly.

Re: Most profound lyric personally? and you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking racing around to come up behind you again. the sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older shorter of breath, one day closer to death.

Re: Most profound lyric personally? "They disembarked in 45 and no one spoke and no one smiled there were too many spaces in the line gathered at the cenotaph all agreed with hand on heart to sheath the sacrificial knifes but now she stands upon southampton dock with her handkerchief and her summer frock clings to her wet body in the rain in quiet desperation knuckles white upon the slippery reins she bravely waves the boys goodbye again and still the dark stain spreads between his shoulder blades a mute reminder of the poppy fields and graves and when the fight was over we spent what they had made but in the bottom of our hearts we felt the final cut"

Re: Most profound lyric personally? I can't really feel lyrics from MLOR or TDB even if I wanted to because I just think the music is not of very high quality and it diminishes the impact of the lyrics. I this is why albums like DSOTM and WYWH are so great because both aspects are balanced so well... but then again that's what everyone says.

Re: Most profound lyric personally? "And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph--sail on the steel breeze..." "Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young--in a world of magnets and miracles..." I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who quoted the last verse from Echoes. That bit has reverberated throughout my life ever since I first discovered it. And to he/she who wrote: "I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains." - Nobody Home Two cheers for you. That song, lyrics and music, is absolutely heart-wrenching, tear-jerking beauty. Yet Another Movie has some all-time favorites: "He has laughed and he has cried He has fought and he has died. He's just the same as all the rest. He's not the worst, and he's not the best."

Re: Most profound lyric personally? Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral caves The echo of a distant tide Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the wheres or whys But something stirs and Something tries And starts to climb towards the light Strangers passing in the street By chance two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand the best I can Very, very profound.

Re: Most profound lyric personally? I felt like crying whenever I remember Dark Side Lyrics... since they all apply to me (and I think to everyone)... Time couldn't be more general to us all... But... the most personal lyric(and favourite) will alway be Brain Damage/Eclipse, being my signature extract the most meaningul, and also "Everything under the Sun is in tune, but the Sun is eclipsed by the Moon". And the strangers passing in the streets part from echoes is just haunting to me... i love those lyrics Shine On R. Waters! Shine On Pink Floyd!

| Re: Most profound lyric personally? There are many, but currently.. (not Floyd though) I've got twelve deciples and a Buddha's smile Guardian of Allah, fighting Valhallah miracle once in a while I've got a pantheon of animals and a pagan soul Vishnu and Gaia, Aztec and Maya Dance around my totem pole I believe in what I see I believe in what I hear I believe that what I'm feeling changes how the world appears Angels and demons dancing in my head Lunatics and monsters underneath my bed Media messiahs preying on my fears Pop culture prophets whisper in my ears.
