Who is more important to the band, gilmour or waters?

I know this is really tough, because the whole band worked together well as a unit to come up with what they have come up with over the years! But, if you had to pick, who do you all reckon was the biggest factor in Floyds success, obviousley its got to be between Gilmour, who is so important to the music, and Waters, responsible for the outstanding lyrics, i some how feel like Waters might just edge it, although at the same time i feel like how could you not say Dave, ill go for Waters though, only just though. I feel he may have been the guy with the biggest ideas.

Oh for **** sake. What the hell is the point in this thread? Is it anything to talk about? They were both important, there wouldnt be a pink floyd like we know it. Anyway, Gilmour the music and Waters the lyrics? What the hell are you talking about? Waters was the composer most of the time, gilmour made the songs great with his guitarwork etc. You should know how awful the songs would be without the music, I dont like at all that all we talk about is Waters lyrics. The words are not important at all.

no member is more important than the others. sure roger wrote lyrics and some music and same with dave. (well he wrote the music not the lyrics) but u can't hear these amazing songs without musicians which is where rick and nick come in. without them there is no PF

Well i tend to forget that this forum unlike loads of others, dont give a crap if people make threads with bullshit. The value of this thread is like zero, and it wont make anyone a bit clearer. It will be the same stuff in all the other gilmour vs waters threads. All in all its just another brick in the wall. Anyway, i respect your thoughts of me ****ing off, and i will. But i will say what i feel, and this thread is just bullshit.

Waters for lyrics and how well he led the band. PF from WYWH onwards was basically Waters solo...and the band did exceptionally. When Gilmour led the band he sucked.

No choice for Nick Mason?

Remember, our buddy Nick is the only member to have appeared on every PF album...

finally! you seem to be the other person here other than myself who has bothered to realize/mention that. whats with you people anyways, the band wouldnt have been any good if any of them wasnt there. dave and roger are both equally important. and even if someone like nick didnt do much of the writing or lyrics, he seems to be the one who sort of held the band together if you ask me. i couldnt decide.

and this thread really isnt of much use as you all said. it is indeed just like all the other waters vs. gilmour threads.
