here's how you can tell if you have taste: did you buy michael jacksons new album? he does it all for the children, you know.

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

This forum is an excellent place to post opinions about what should and should not have been on the album. I mean we're not exactly petitioning floyd to pull the album and rework it to our tastes, we're merely expressing our views on the album. Actually, i'm sure (from what i've read) that no one in the floyd were completely joyous over the end result. Some sacrifices were surely made. So lets not start ridiculing others for expressing their opinions. Having said that it would have been nice JUST FOR ME to hear these on ECHOES:
Brain damage/eclispe
Two suns in the sunset
green is the colour
and not these:
sorrow
another brick in the wall (though it was inevitable)

How do you know when it's Micheal Jackson's bedtime?

When the big hand touches the little hand.

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

By the way Albatross, if you want to hear Brain Damage/Eclipse away from their natural environment, buy "Works".

They're mooted as being the quad mixes, but of course, they're in stereo.

Informative,

Mark

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

For whomever asked a few days ago, Echoes (the track) basically lost a minute or two from each part-- beginning, end, whale noises, funky groove. The lyrics are all there, though. Most of the crescendos were taken out-- the edit really sucks, IMHO

The man has a point. It's not a fully explained agenda as yet, but, well...

Cheers,

Mark

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Anyone of us could have done what they did. But only to our own liking. (Which I plan on doing!) Yeah, I blew the $15 on it. Now it sits and collects dust. "Echoes" being edited is what got me. Even more so after hearing the full version of "Sheep". what a load of horse crap! Anyway, I bought it. They got my hard earned money. And are now laughing all the way to the bank. But on a good note, the artwork looks great.

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

thanks fixx, i actually have works though (and everything else just for bragging rights). I indeed have a problem, an addiction as im sure many of you do. Who in the hell would buy an album with songs they already have in shorter and unsatisfactory versions. here here! oh well it beats collecting vintage wine.
bye

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

i disagree. vintage wine gets me drunk and makes my women looser. it also softens up my bowl movements.

Re: Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd

I never was a huge fan of compilations of any kind. Most of them have all of the songs you already own but throw in one or two "alternate versions" or unreleased songs which to me, isn't too convenient. The only Pink Floyd compilation I own is "A Collection Of Great Dance Songs," and I bought it for 3$ (used CD) and only for its amazingly beatiful cover. But I have no intention of buying "Echoes." I mean the cover art is great, it's a semi-well selected
compilation (leaving out material from "More" "Ummagumma" "Atom Heart Mother" "Obscured by Clouds" and only using one from "The Final Cut" wasn't too good for me), and it's wonderful that they decided to include "When the Tigers Broke Free." But, to me, it's just another compilation...but hopefully note a "goodbye" compilation.
