Today's MTV

i cant believe the world of music today. have any of you actually sat down and watched MTV? the music they play on there is the biggest load of crap ive ever seen. to add onto this, however, the VJs are tools. i miss the old days of kevin seal, and the other cool VJs. and what ever happened to headbangers ball?

Re: Today's MTV

Headbanger's Ball was recently brought back to late Saturday nights on MTV2, which is your best bet for being as close to how MTV used to be (i.e., videos, not shows). Fuse (formerly Much Music USA) is also a pretty eclectic station, from indie rock to rap.

Re: Today's MTV

No offense, but bitching about the state of MTV today won't better it. I found this out myself. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but MTV is actually a good thing if that's your bag. However, it does take away creativity. So I've boycotted MTV for a few weeks, while I write songs.

Today's MTV has given me many hours of something to do, when there was nothing to do. I can nearly always count of MTV having something to watch, something to look at. Of course, others may feel differently.

Naturally, MTV was going to get corporate eventually. This happens a lot to 'underground' stuff (Sub Pop and Rolling Stone for example). MTV only became this way through age. And others eventually come up (Fuse) that seem more 'with it'. So, either take MTV the way it is (it isn't going to change) or do otherwise.

I don't know why anyone would read this, I just kinda went on. I apologize.

Re: Today's MTV

I saw this great thing where they were parodying vh1 (on vh1 no less), and they said, "vh1, where music used to be first.... and now its like 7th..... or 14th...."

Re: Today's MTV

Pretend that it's not called, "music" television and, viola, problem solved.

We don't need MTV to watch music videos anymore anyway, you can download them online. It's more convienient that way too, watch them when you want, no commercials.

I do indeed enjoy Viva La Bam. And Jackass was great while it lasted.

Re: Today's MTV

viva la bam and jackass were/are great because most of the stuff they tape happened all around my house. i live in west chester pennsylvania, where most of the footage you see happens. well, in viva la bam pretty much all of it happens in WC. its funny because whenever im walking around on the streets i will occasionally see bam and his "crew" thats why i love his show

o btw... its not planned
