Brian May

Besides the fact that he made his sick-ass guitar, I heard part of the awesome sound he got from the guitar was also partially because he used a dime as a pick. Does anyone know if this is true?

Re: Brian May

It's true.

I can relate to Brian May because I read once that he has a chronic gnawing fear of forgetting where he's at in the middle of a guitar solo while in a concert.

Re: Brian May

Come on, respect the guy just a little at least. He's a great guitarist no doubt.

Man, he's had that same hair-helmet for 35 years. You'd think he'd get another.

Re: Brian May

Since Brian May is British he uses a sixpence coin, not a dime. And it's usually the exception to the rule when he isn't using it. That's partly what gives that amazingly sharp, knife-edge, metallic attack in his guitar solos.

Re: Brian May

he also does a lot of tapping on the strings with his finger, to get that warm ring such as in the very ending of Bohemian Rhapsody.

he also recently just had an English sixpence inbedded in the headstock of his Red Special.
