in the wall the movie there's this song and i have no idea what it is. its playing in the part where all the buildings and factories are sprouting up. i believe it says something like "shall he drive a more powerful car"

yes, it is "what shall we do now". it was cut from the album due to time constraints, but it is in "is there anybody out there" live version of the wall.

I am very fond of the song, 'What Shall We Do Now?'. This song, as well as 'Empty Spaces' fuse together perfectly. I cannot seem to see why Mr. Waters couldn't find any room for the song, it is one of my favorites.

you can download my mix of it here.... http://mystica.cx/~theunabeefer/pf/ it's basically just torn right from the movie, but with a better ending.

That has always been one of my favourite songs off The Wall. It has always bothered me that the lyrics are there, but the song isn't.

I like the ITAOT version of the entire album better... I am very set on the fact that it just has more "oomph" to it.

Yes, there is more "oomph" to the live version of the song. Also, the lyrics for 'Empty Spaces' are a bit different than the one's on the album version; this is okay though, as the new lyrics actually lead up to 'What Shall We Do Now?'. I like the song because it is very heavy-hitting, I always turn the volume up at this point.

It's easily one of the best songs on the album, the live version is fantastic. I have the original LP which as the words printed as there was no time to tell the printers of the change in line up and just looking at them it seemed teriable but with the guitar and drums they really work.

I couldn't find the lyrics to 'Empty Spaces'/'What Shall We Do Now?' anywhere in the lyrics database -- not within Is There Anybody Out There?, not in the Wall movie; so I have decided to post them myself.

--Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now?--
"What shall we use
To fill the empty spaces
Where waves of hunger
Roar
Shall we set out across this sea
Of faces
In search of more
And more applause
Shall we buy a new guitar
Shall we drive a more powerful car
Shall we work straght through the night
Shall we get into fights
Leave the lights on drop bombs
Do tours of the east
Contract diseases
Bury bones break up homes
Send flowers by phone
Take to drink go to shrinks
Give up meat rarely sleep
Keep people as pets
Train dogs race rats
Fill the attic with cash
Bury treasure store up leisure
But never relax at all
With our backs to the wall.....backs to the wall"

That's only in "Empty Spaces," not "What Shall We Do Now?"
