Re: Travel

hrm... i did a UK trip last summer. lotsa fun. mostly though i've just bummed around canada and the usa with my family:

florida (twice)
mexico
arizona
los angeles/palm springs
calgary/banff
newfoundland (twice)
boston/cape cod
kirkland lake (many times... waayyy up in far northern ontario)

all pretty enjoyable, except for the excruciating car trips

oh yeah! and apparently my parents visited venezuela while my mum was 3 months pregnant with me... does that count?

Re: Travel

48 of the 50 United States.

Foreign countries:

Most of Europe (Switzerland was my favorite, followed by Rome and Paris)

Most of the Caribbean (trips to Jamaica every year - St Barts is my favorite)

New Zealand (f***in' awesome)

But the best trip was Kenya and Egypt. Unbelievable countries, both of those. The history of Egypt is truly one of mankind's marvels. And the game reserves of Kenya were amazing!

Re: Travel

Aussies are a bit odd in that sense.. they LIKE snakes. I personally would run like the wind if I saw one.
We are made of relatively tough stuff considering we're surrounded by a number of nasty things that could bite you and kill you. You just learn to live with it.. and spray bug repelent from a long distance.

cheers

Re: Travel

i've been to 40 some odd of the 50 states although i somewhat despise this country. I'm a kid so I don't have much of a choice where i get taken on vacation. I wish I could go to Europe, spend time in italy and especially amsterdam. Australia sounds nice, jamaica maybe, warm places, and if i ever had more money then i knew what to do with, i'd have to go to madagascar cause that is coolest name for a country.

Re: Travel

I can't sing Australia's praises enough.. I mean I've only seen two states worth of it, and even there i've only chipped the block. There are sooo many things to do, so many people to see, so many places to visit. I think what makes Australia, in some ways a lot like Ireland, is the people. You will not find a friendlier bunch on this planet.. true story

cheers

Re: Travel

That's funny. I heard that Australia sucked. And it was from a reputable traveler.

The 2 states I lack are North Dakota and Alaska. I think I can do w/o North Dakota, but I would like to see Alaska.

And Australia is on my list. It just takes so long to get there!

We saw NZ while Halley's Comet was buzzing by (1987, I think?). My first trip the the southern Hemisphere. Beautiful country, that NZ.

I would also like to take my kids to Europe (I went as a teen).

Yeah - we Yanks get N and S Dakota confused, too...there's not a whole lot of difference - just the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore.

If we make it to Australia, will you be our tour guide, Lej? Now that Pete's gone and all...
