Fulgh, I totally agree. That's what I'm always telling people. Not to be obsessed with getting somebody elses sound. About Digitech, I don't like digital effects. They sound to, perfect. It's not rock n'roll, y'know? And I hear they really jack up your amp. I haven't had good experiences with digitech. I had an RP-100, it jacked up my amp alot. And I've tried the digitech stomp-boxes and I don't much care for them. But you all have to agree, any pedal with "Metal" in it, is shit.

I'd suggest you buy a zoom 505II guitar processor. It's less than 100$ and if you have a good combo it would sound really awesome. You can get almost any sound out of that thing and you got every other effect in it you can think of.

| I find the dynacomp compressor most useful, I always use it. Big Muff is great but I find it not so versitile. I only use it for hard pounding sounds, mostly gilmour solos. I think you'd be happier with a good compression pedal and a good overdrive pedal. I'd suggest MXR dyncomp and BOSS bd-2. good luck

Thanks for the suggestions. The discussion is informative... Nevertheless Mufffans, i went with the Ibanez ts9-dx mostly due to Paranoid Android's enthusiasm. However, had I read a lot of these posts I might have thought it over. I´ll be getting the ts9 sometime next week and though I´m sure I wont be disappointed, I´d like to buy the BigMuff next time around. And I agree with you Fulghum, everyone should have their own sound. Thing is since I´m jsut starting out all I care about right now is being able to make these cool PF songs come out through my fingers. Sounds lame but my original ultimate goal when i first picked up a guitar was to be able to play the solo to Time and then I could die happy... Havent gotten there yet but thats no longer my only goal. And after Ive accomplished this and when I feel totally comfortable on a guitar I´m sure I´ll discover my own style. I have already started noticing tendencies...

I used to have a DOD FX-7 processor, but I traded it for a P.A. The only pedal I have now is the Boss DS-1, which kicks ass.

For what it's worth, the very first solo I ever played in front of a crowd was Time. It was at a HS party, with my garage band buds, in 1976. I was 16 and scared sh**less... What if I screw this up.. I'll never hear the end of it.. I pulled it off and yet another guitar hero was born.. I still love to play Time to this day... so I really understand where your coming from.. You'll love your ts9-dx. Have fun and your personality will beging to flavor you solos in due time. Shine on, You Crazy Diamond..

As Fulghum said, the Digitech Rp200A (which i have), is awsome. You can get a pink floyd sound out of that. effect wise. Nirvana is distortion and chorus = ibanez tubescreamer. but for pink floyd. i see that david gilmour really uses delay and reverb as his favorites. So my suggestion for the pink floyd sound. Digitech Rp200a or Boss Digital Delay Pedal or Boss Digital Reverb/Delay Pedal. I hope i helped.
