Beatles...Overrated?

hey yall,
i was sitting in my room contemplating the meaning of life and the beatles came into my head, and i know they are fabulous and they made a breakthrough in music and they had billions of fans, but what is still so good about them? Don't get me wrong i love the beatles, but is it only cuz everyother person in the world loves them too? idk so heres the question and explain your awnser as best as you can : are the beatles overrated?

they're a good entry level band for exposing "good music" to kids (I was on the Beatles plan), but you gotta wean 'em off with something actually good as soon as they get an appreciation for the style. It's kinda implied that a classic rock fan will at least appreciate the fact that they were one of the first to show that music wasn't just something to dance to.

no FN way from there start of their career to the end I find them amazing , depending on my mood I can listen to whatever floats my boat

Oh and alot of people love Phish but that is not the reason I love them, it is not even for the same reason as from most of their fans. I think that goes the same with The Beatles. For me it taught me alot about music and where my taste where and that I had more taste then I really thought.

As for what they taught me about guitar playing I can't say enough. Listen to live at the BBC

The beatles put a smile on my face, i assume they do that for a ton of people. I love their music, I even watched all 11 hours or whatever of the anthology dvd's. I think they deserve all the overrating they may get, because they probably are overrated somewhat. I think there are other bands that are just as good if not better then them, but they arent near as popular. It's the fact that they were creative and very original. i'd say it's in the eye of the beholder to decide if they are overrated.

Everything they did from Revolver on was really brilliant. Everything pre-revolver doesn't really impress me.

I think they were just the right band at the right time, and i think they all recognized this. i was trying to find a specific thread that dealt with this already, but, like Sydney said, it's so interspersed in other ones that it can't be pinpointed.
