Rank the works of Radiohead. This album is flawless. The high points it reaches are astronomical compared to most of today's rock bands. Highlights(read:points): 2+2=5, Backdrifts, We Suck Young Blood, I Will, A Wolf at the Door 2. "Amnesiac" Criminally underrated. Life in a Glass House, Pyramid Song, and You and Whose Army are all perfect, resonant songs. I can't get enough of this album. 3. "The Bends" Much more conventional than most of their work, but every song is good. I can listen to it the whole way through without skipping anything. A great album to just rock out to. Highlights: High and Dry, Black Star, Just. 4. "OK Computer" Yeah, this one is quite good also. I just don't think it resonates quite as well as the other three mentioned. Sure, Paranoid Android is the Head's Stairway, but there's one too many duds on this in order to rank it higher. Highlights: Paranoid Android, Airbag, Let Down, Electioneering 5. "Kid A" Overrated. But, I still enjoy a few songs on it. My main problem with it is that it got a little too Broken Social Scene-y there with Treefingers, which is just mind-boggling, and not in a good way. I'm also not Everything In Its Right Place's biggest fan. Highlights: The National Anthem, Optimistic, Idioteque 6. "Pablo Honey" It has one good song, and it's probably the band's most famous. I've said enough. If this is a DDT, I apologize. When I searched, all I found was the thread comparing Radiohead to Floyd. Anyway. Do as the thread title suggests, s'il vous plait.

1. OK Computer. There is nothing wrong with this album. At all. The whole damn thing. 2. The Bends. There's maybe one track I don't like on it, 'Sulk'. The rest is brilliant. The Bends, Fake Plastic Trees, Black Star, Street Spirit, Bulletproof. 3. Kid A. My first Radiohead record. Is kinda overrated, but a great album nonetheless. Optimistic, How to Disappear Completely, Motion Picture Soundtrack, In Limbo, National Anthem. 4. Hail to the Thief. A great album, but doesn't flow as well as the rest. But, you know, all the songs are good. Sit Down Stand Up, There There, I Will, Sail to the Moon, Backdrifting. 5. Pablo Honey. A solid rock record, a couple iffy ones, but very good for what its supposed to be - British pop-grunge-rock. Naturally, it's not going to be like anything else they've done. Lurgee, Blow Out, Creep, Thinking About You, Ripcord, You, Stop Whispering. 6. Amnesiac. A nice premise, but 'grab-bag' is more like it. There's maybe a few good ones on there, but 'Dollars and Cents' doesn't get my ginch. Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong. Christ, that was hard. Never make me do that again... hehe.

It's got some good songs, but it has a 'here's everything else that didn't make Kid A' vibe to it. Or maybe it's just me.

1. OK COMPUTER Flawless. Contains the greatest song ever written. 2. THE BENDS The album that got me into them. Brilliant. 3. KID A Didn't like it at first, then got into it, now love it as much as OKC and The Bends. How To Disappear Completely is breathtaking. =4. HAIL TO THE THIEF; =4. AMNESIAC I love these two equally. Not perfect, but good albums nonetheless. 6. PABLO HONEY - Not a bad debut, with some good songs, namely You, Creep, Stop Whispering, Thinking About You, Anyone Can Play Guitar, I Can't, Lurgee and Blow Out.

Yeah, I've been getting into Radiohead since about Feburary...I recently got "Kid A" and "Amnesiac" (breaking in "Kid A" first...haven't quite absorbed all of it, but I like it) and before had "OK Computer." "HTTT," and "The Bends." "Ok Computer" simply dominates. It's just amazing. "The Bends" is my second favorite...it just rocks. And it rocks hard (yet has masterfully crafted gentler songs too). And now "Kid A" has risen to 3rd, simply because I really disliked "HTTT." As suggested in the other forum, I'm going to really get into "Kid A" (which, apparently, was the begining of their transition), then try at "HTTT" again.

Kid A- Such an amazing album. This album gets the #1 spot if only for the first three songs. Ok Computer- Paranoid Android, need I say more? Hail to the Thief- This one is great too, but I didn't find it as balanced as the others. My favorite track: Where I End and You Begin The Bends- One of my favorite radiohead songs, Fake Plastic Trees is here. My Iron Lung got boring really fast though. Amnesiac- A bit of a "let down" but there are still some great songs here: You and Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong, I also liked the "Spinning Plates" song. Pablo Honey- There are some cool songs here but I barely ever listen to this album, it got boring.

1. OK Computer - I simply love every part of this album. From "Fitter Happier" to "Airbag," "Paranoid Android" to "Subterranean Homesick Alien," every song is a masterpiece in its own brilliant way. I will never get tired of any of it. The emotional lows ("Let Down," "Climbing Up the Walls") can be a bit harrowing but "Lucky" and "The Tourist" soon make amends. A real classic that will continue to be recognized as such for a long time. 2. Kid A - Deeply satisfying, emotionally broad-ranged, well-rounded, but just a tad confused. A successful experiment in alternate writing techniques for a rock and roll band, which produced some amazing results ("Everything In Its Right Place," "Idioteque," "The National Anthem") that are far better in the live arenas than on record, and only two songs ("In Limbo," "Optimistic") that come close to wearing out their welcome. The rest of the tracks ("How to Disappear Completely," "Kid A," "Treefingers," "Morning Bell," and "Motion Picture Soundtrack") are beautiful, haunting and perfect snapshots of a damaged and fragmented soul looking for redemption. Gorgeous stuff. 3. Hail to the Thief - Another amazing achievement. "There There" is one of my favourite songs of all time, the band really rock out and the vocals are fantastic. There are a couple of boring tracks ("We Suck Young Blood," "Backdrifts") but they make up for it with their sweetass live performances. The other tracks are all stunning. This record just sounds better every day, and the tour was absolutely terrific. The band are happy again and loving what they do and that can only be good for us Radiohead fans. 4. Amnesiac - A lot of really really really really good shit, with one or two seemingly pointless tracks which only appear to be there in order to hold together the album's concept (of amnesia, duh). Again, most songs fare better in a live context but the LP is still quite solid on its own. I like the ballsiness of this record, it's very daring and flashy but I don't have nearly the same emotional connection to it that I have with the Top Three. "Like Spinning Plates" and "Pyramid Song" are the real standouts, among their finest songs ever in my opinion. 5. The Bends - It doesn't quite have the superlative brilliance some people ascribe to it, but there are 9 or 10 damn fine tunes on a twelve-song rock and roll album and that's saying a lot in this climate of bullshit and mediocrity. Great energy, great production, great songwriting... it's just not even-keeled enough. "Sulk" and "(Nice Dream)" drag down the overall quality of what is otherwise a fine roster. "(Nice Dream)" has its apologists but I think it's immature and unpolished, and "Sulk" is just bad. However, put it together with the next entry and you have 14 winning songs... 6. My Iron Lung EP - Holy crap. Some bands have B-sides, but nobody does B-sides like Radiohead. "The Trickster," "Lewis (Mistreated)," "Permanent Daylight," and "Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong" ...lesser bands would KILL to have this kind of material for their A-sides. If those four tracks had made the cut instead of "(ND)" and "Sulk," The Bends would have been MUCH higher on the list. Plus you get an acoustic take of "Creep" which blows away all other versions. 7. Com Lag/2+2=5 EP - Turns out this little B-side-fest eats like a meal and plays like an album, which is very surprising. Not only that, but some tracks (the Christian Vogel remix cleverly titled "ReMyxomatosis," the LA Version of "I Will," and the live cut of "Fog") surpass their original versions. Neat artwork, and the enhanced CD's live video is funky-fresh. I really dig "Paperbag Writer" and "Where Bluebirds Fly," and "Gagging Order" & "Wicked Child" are new territory for Radiohead that come off surprisingly well. Works nicely as a companion to Hail to the Thief, or on its own. But a little bit too far-out for casual listening. 8. Pyramid Song EP - More b-side craziness. How on earth do they get away with stuff like "Fast Track" and "Trans-Atlantic Drawl?" Effin' brilliant stuff if you ask me, and "Kinetic" is as hypnotic and intoxicating as anything from Kid A. "Amazing Sounds of Orgy" is great too, gotta love that "so glad, so glad, you're miiiiiine" refrain. Not the best b-side from the post-OK Computer era (that honour goes to "Cuttooth"), but it's certainly creepy crap alright. 9. I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings - They're the best live band out there today, but unfortunately this little disc was a bit rushed and not very well produced, hence it's a bit of a bore in some places. Nice to have "True Love Waits" on an official record, though. And the live Kid A tracks are fun no matter how you hear them. 10. Airbag/How Am I Driving? EP - Pretty good, quirky stuff to be found here again among the b-sides. "Pearly*" is a snarling rock thumper, "A Reminder" a gentle, sweeping ballad, "Polyethylene" a Floydian knock-out, and "Meeting in the Aisle" a funky groove which I'm not sure has anything at all to do with the band. "Palo Alto" just rocks, and I mean rocks. Again, not the best Radiohead b-side (that distinction belongs to "Talk Show Host"), but would have made a nice title track on OK Computer. Unfortunately, up against the context of that album, most of the tracks here would suffer in the shadow of its towering brilliance. Especially "Melatonin." 11. Pablo Honey - Sophomoric. Which I guess is pretty good considering it's a debut. A little bland here and there, and the lyrics definately leave a lot to be desired. But that "ka-chunk" in Creep is always nice and the ending of Blow Out is an eerie exercise. Still not enough for it to get many spins in my CD player.12. Drill - Yuck. Thank God it's not in print anymore, because it just sucks. Good thing they've moved on from this sort of thing or we wouldn't have the above 11 CDs! Whew. ![]() Radiohead rule! |

G'day, Interesting to read what people like. Most of this is ordered... I enjoy almost all by Radiohead that I've heard. Admittedly I haven't tried listening to Pablo Honey in full; only the songs creep, stop whispering, and a few others - so maybe I wouldn't like that album. The bought albums I own are The Bends, OK Computer, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief. I like selected tracks from the b-side albums.. namely: True Love Waits (the live brussels version - begins with thom: "this is a brand new song..."); Amazing Sounds of Orgy; Talk Show Host; How Can You be Sure?. Also I've been listening to Com Lag, a non-standard version it seems, beginning with tracks Kinetic and Cut-tooth... and it sounds quite nice so far. 1. 'OK Computer', And 'Hail to the Thief': These are the two I listen to most: I'm most in the mood for these two. Half of my favourite songs come from OK Computer, very consistent album.. not a lull in it; my favourites on the CD are 'Climbing up the Walls'; 'Lucky'; 'Let Down'; 'No Surprises'; 'Fitter, Happier' 2. 'Amnesiac', and 'The Bends': Heh, I don't know if i could rank these one above the other by preference either. I think Amnesiac has a lot of "character", the most of all the Radiohead albums even... and that the mood it creates is sustained throughout: I probably won't skip tracks much if i'm in a mood for Amnesiac. However it's harder for me to pick stand-out tracks on Amnesiac.. maybe 'Spinning Plates' and 'Hunting Bears' (i like 'em all). I usually skip through the Bends... prolly because of the poppy sound of the album; but stand-out tracks for me are: 'Fake Plastic Trees'; 'Street Spirit'; 'High & Dry'; 'Just'. 3. 'Kid A' I don't listen to this one very much because I'm not in the mood for it. I think it's a good album, although I'd say it has less character than Amnesiac. I love the song 'How to Disappear Completely' My most favourite songs for lyrics (that I can think of presently): No Surprises, There There, Fitter Happier, Fake Plastic Trees, Lucky, True Love Waits, Creep, How to Disappear Completely. ![]() Peace
