Tis a TalkBox. Listen to Peter Frampton,Joe Walsh,and of course good ole David Gilmour and youll eventully hear his cool effect.Theres is a tube taht comes up form the pedal and it attached next to a microphone.Sound of the guitar notes or chords travel in the the tube and into your mouth,however you shape your mouth will "shape" the way the sound comes out.The sound is then captured by the microphone.I hear it really can rattle you mouth and teeth a bit.I really would like to get one!

Oddly enough, that fits perfectly with the experiment I did above.

I tried it myself with Adobe Audition 1.5's spectral analyzer (sampling the CD instead of vinyl), getting all fed up like you did... and then I just stumbled upon that quote in an interview somewhere.

And a good thing you did. I've thought off and on about ways to separate the instruments on that thing - and you already know how well that works.
