I'm not fond of either of them, but Pink Floyd is not the same without Roger, so I guess I'll pick The Final Cut

Actually, this thread has reminded me of another reason why the post-Waters records are NOT Floyd - the lack of passion!

AMLOR, while it has some good songs, just feels like a vacuum. Bad lyrics, good instrumentation, no enthusiasm. Not a Floyd album by any stretch of the imagination. Even TFC, which is as pessimistic and depressed a world view possible, burns with passion for the music.

I found the short movie - the final cut (short movie)
very helpful to understand the meaning of TFC
Once, like many of yous
i thought TFC is a shitty album
but then i saw that movie and i relized that its a fucking genius album
waters is a genius

The Final Cut made me cry yesterday. Then I fell asleep listening to AMLOR.

I find AMLOR too disturbing to fall asleep to.

The Final Cut:
Lyrics: Good
Music: Mediocre

AMLOR:
Music: Good
Lyrics: Mediocre

Pink Floyd is 60 percent music - 40 percent lyrics.

My choice is AMLOR, but the 80's is not the proudest decade in Pink Floyd history.

Re: Is Final Cut or Momentary Lapse of Reason best?

I just got the Final cut from a friend of mine and was pleasently surprised that I like it.It took a few listens but I like it better than any Roger solo album to this point.I also got Amused to death lately and still having a tuff time getting into it but its starting to grow on me.

The Final Cut is a bit better imo.

And the only reason that is because of David's great solos on TFC and FMH.

Re: Is Final Cut or Momentary Lapse of Reason best?

aMLOR is really painful to listen to. TFC has good songs, took me a while to like it. yesterday I finally made the last step and actually bought the cd (I had it on mp3 before because I heard so many people say it sucked and I didn't want to waste my money...)
