Iggy was an Eskimo girl who Syd shagged the night before the pictures were taken for the cover of 'The Madcap Laughs'. That's why she's naked on the cover.

Iggy the Eskimo was reported to be a model and was a frequent visitor at the Earl's Court flat where Syd lived. She was another of the many Syd girlfriends from those days. She evidently liked to walk around naked.

If you buy Mick Rock's book with the whole photo session (that is a NICE ass on that woman!!!), you get this write-up which briefly mentions her:

And she's only half-Eskimo. Looks half-Japanese to me, as well.

Iggy's the girl on the Madcap Laughs cover (came round to Syd's flat (where the photo shoot was) naked apparently)......

caption in that photo says the girl in the garden (Cambridge) is Mick Rock's girlfriend......

Actually, the girl in the photos is Sumi, Pete Jenner's wife. So the search for Iggy goes on .....

I saw that book, yeah its got her in there alright.

the girl with syd in those pictures IS NOT IGGY, she is mick rocks girlfriend!!

Wow Frepp, as the keeper of the holy grail of Iggy (now Evelyn) I can only congratulate you for finding this picture. It will be published immediately at the Holy Church of Iggy the Inuit.

The second (and most recent) Iggy interview has now been published on my blog, and this with the consent of the author and Mojo magazine.

Nice to see that the first post in this thread has the article from the Croydon Guardian that was actually written after I had contacted the journalist. Of course the garden pictures from Barrett do not show Iggy, but Sheila Rock. I also see the NME picture of Iggy here, the complete NME article (text and pictures) can also be consulted on my blog.

Trivial fact: Iggy has got a copy of this NME magazine as well, and so does the Church, obviously.
