Re: Patti Smith

hmmmm i don't know her music very well. i know her songs Because the night (who doesn't) and Dancing Barefoot. i heard this song on our independant radio and it just so much surprised me. then i heard the U2 cover. just great.

also i heard lots of wonderful and inspiring things about her. she used to be a poet. she used to imitate Keith Richards, right? so cool.

Re: Patti Smith

well its not that she used to imitate keith...its just that if she had the choice between being mick or keith she said shed rather be keith...

she has always been a poet, i didnt really get into her new album "trampin"

but if you ever get the chance to download the songs "ask the angels" and "free money" or to get the album "horses", believe me you'll see how great she is

the distillers did a great cover of ask the angels.
she used to hang out with the whole cbgb new york scene, like the velvet underground, the television, blondie

Uh, slap me for this, but I dont believe I've heard any of her stuff. I've heard the name, but I can't say I can recognize her on the radio.

Re: Patti Smith

this really surprises me cause she's really known. she used to be a huge star now she's (just) a living legend. like David Bowie and Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.

Re: Patti Smith

Patti Smith gives me the creeps.

Patty Smyth, on the other hand, was a babe. At least 20 years ago.

Re: Patti Smith

The only Patty Smith Smith song I know is the Tennesse Waltz because it is on the Zabriskie Point Soundtrack which I bought on CD many years ago. However, I believe the Tennesse Waltz is someone elses song and her version is merely a cover. Anyways, her vocals sound ok but I don't know much about her.

I believe you're thinking of Patti Page, Riv.

Enlightenment please, stratters as just today a guy at work just a little older than yours truly kept going on and on about how beautiful he thought Patti Smith, the "rock" singer was/is, and I was having a hard time hanging onto my breakfast at the thought of it when suddenly you introduce the novel, to me, notion of a second, perhaps actually beautiful, Patty. <GASP>

Who is Patty Smyth?

Re: Patti Smith

This is Patty Smyth. Lead singer for 80's group "Scandal", whose one hit was "Goodbye To You". I used to watch her on MTV with "lust in my heart", as Jimma used to say.

This, on the other hand, is Patti Smith. You guys be the judge.
