There was a big poll done to find out who people thought was the greatest guitar player. After 18 weeks of voting rock 'n' roll rans voted David Gilmour as the greatest easily with several more votes than the runner-ups who were Page and Clapton. Also the fans voted For the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos ever and Gilmour had three

Comfortably Numb 4

Time 21

Money 62

Yeah, I love David's guitar playing and his screaming solos, I don't think I've ever heard anyone replicate them...
...it's funny Satan didn't mention Jimi Hendrix among the ranks though... hmmm makes me wonder (pun intended) where Jimmy Page comes in aswell...

Dave is great, but "greatest"...I dunno, I don't really like all those greatest this or greatest that things.
He moves my emotions (in a HUGE way) and that's enough for me !
It'd be a pleasure if he wins, though.

well if dave is not the greatest, lets see who is, my top five,

Gilmour
Page
Iommi
Clapton
Slash

Gilmours passion and purpose just blows me away, he is me manifested into a guitar solo, every time, and thats a feat, to be a person, thats what i get from it, guitar is what it is all about and wow, dave knows how to use it,
what do the rest of u think?

Nice find, BreathingPink. Some interesting relics buried in the archives, eh?

As much as I love Dave, to claim he's the greatest guitar player ever is stupid.

Dave Fulghum, however, probably is.

[Greatest guitar player, not stupid]

I excluded myself from that poll just to keep things fair for the "other Dave", Eric, Jimmy, Jeff, Pete, Stevie and Mark.
