Paper on rock 'n' im writing about SOYCD

Hi,

I'm taking a class on the history of rock 'n' roll its near the end now and i'm preparing to write my final term paper. It has to be on a song not discussed in class, since i love pink floyd and SOYCD is my favorite song i thought it would be appropriate to write about it.

However, im having some trouble i have to describe how the song involves issues of racial, gender, or sexual identity, but i really dont see any of those in SOYCD. Or i can choose how teh song fits into the socio-political events of a particular time-period or movent (dont really notice anything here). I may also examine how this song does or does not conform to the aesthetic/ culture/ political values that are typically associated with the song's genre (progressive rock, psychedelic rock). I dont really konw how to tackle this, should i cahnge to a differnet floyd song. OR any song that would make this easier just give me suggestions thanks.

SOYCD is essentially an Ode to Syd Barrett. The entire WYWH album is really.

If you need a song relating to race/gender/sexual identity you'd be better off looking at The Wall, The Final Cut or Amused to Death.

Look at some of the lyrics on Animals too, specifically Pigs for your purposes.
I had to write an essay when I took Rock and Roll history too. I wrote in on Animals as a whole. I got an A (of course, he was a very easy grader, and everyone got an A!)

That song could definetly be anylyzed, but I don't see what it has to do with socio/political issues.

Read the lyrics for Pigs or ANY of the songs on Roger Waters solo album Amused To Death.

What God wants God gets God help us all
What God wants God gets
The kid in the corner looked at the priest
And fingered his pale blue Japanese guitar
The priest said
God wants goodness
God wants light
God wants mayhem
God wants a clean fight
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
It's only dogma
The alien prophet cried
The beetle and the springbok
Took the Bible from its hook
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the lesson in his book
What God wants God gets God help us all
God wants peace
God wants war
God wants famine
God wants chain stores
What God wants God gets
God wants sedition
God wants sex
God wants freedom
God wants semtex
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
I'm only joking
The alien comic cried
The jackass and hyena
Took the feather from its hook
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the joke down in his book
What God wants God gets
God wants boarders
God wants crack
God wants rainfall
God wants wetbacks
What God wants God gets
God wants voodoo
God wants shrines
God wants law
God wants organised crime
God wants crusade
God wants jihad
God wants good
God wants bad
What God wants God gets

Thats from "Amused To Death," he is being critical of organized religion. Pretty easy to relate this to social issues. Check out the lyrics page an look at "Amused To Death" EVERYTHING on that album will work for you.

Also, check out Bob Dylan, for social issues. Unless you have your heart set on P.F.

Articles from the internet wont work? Even if they were written by presigious reviewers?

If not, then you better go to the library. There are books written on P/F lyrics, they might be hard to find though.
