Re: Floyd giving to charity?

Howdy to all!
I was just wondering, if Pink Floyd (or any member current or past) has donated any money or even performed some type of charity show for the victims of the Sept.11 attacks? I'm only asking b/c this dude I work with keeps giving me crap about how un-American they are b/c they can come over here and make millions but not give anything back in a time like this. He's a good friend, and is only trying to get me fired up. But he said if I can find some kind of "proof" that they did, he'll buy their new album. I know Mr.Gilmour has given quite a bit to charity in the past. Any info would be wonderful. Or even a web site that has an article about it. Thanks.

Re: Floyd giving to charity?

The honest truth is, they don't seem like the kind who would have the need to make a public display of it...so I don't think we'll ever know what they have and haven't done. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them did something quietly--but I don't think we'll ever know one way or the other.

Tell your friend, perhaps, that it is not necessary to make a big show in order to be generous.

Re: Floyd giving to charity?

I know Foyd isn't real vocal about giving to a charity, or pretty much anything else for that matter. But I just figured that something like that would make the news somewhere. I checked the news section on this site, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the help though! Any more would be great. Later!

I don't really think Roger is really the charity type of person. I've said it before, but Roger has said that you realize you're rich and you've got all this money and realize how much you can help people with it, but decide to keep it all. Mighty selfish ol' Roger is.

Re: Floyd giving to charity?

floydboy75,

I'd advise you to tell your friend to get bent. The guys probably won't miss their share of the album not purchased by him.

Who is he to demand charitable contributions from anyone? If they felt like giving, fine. If not, that's fine too.

Jeez, some people!

Fractiously Floydian,
Byron
