Time Solo

I learned the solo to "Time" the other day....it looked hard but I worked it out in like an hour, I've only been playing guitar for like 3 years, and to learn the solo to my favorite song of all time is awesome...did any other young players, who have tried this solo, think it was pretty easy??

Hey, hey!

Well, I've been playing guitar for nearly two years, and I learned the solo for Time around the same time I was learning the solo for Money, about four or five months ago. And both solo's sound hard (at least to a beginning guitar player) but once you learn them, they are easy. I think the Time and Money solos are really easy to play, and it's not too hard to add some of your own stuff in there without screwing up the flow of the solo. The guitar solos for SOYCD are easy, too. It's just kind of a pain to memorize them since the solo's span such a long time.

Most Floyd solos are easy because they aren't fast and don't have a lot of notes, but then the tricky part is mimicing the technique and phrasing of the solo, which is what I like about Gilmour's playing. He doesn't bombard you with a lot of fast notes to show he's good, he plays with feeling, and this adds to the emotional intensity of Pink Floyd's music.

Well, compared to Money, there isn't too much phrasing in Time.

I'm teaching myself shine on you crazy diamond at the moment, I just keep teaching myself bits and pieces everyday and eventually I'll start to put all of them together so I can play the entire thing. I also want to learn the time and money solos if you say they aren't that hard. and Echoes, i want to learn that whole song, it's probably my favorite. I like all the really long songs cause it's just more to enjoy and they are better cause theres probably more time and work put in to them.

And if you can't afford all of the expensive pedals that site tries to force you to buy, simply put distortion up pretty high, cut some of your middle and use some loudish delay. The solo is pretty much down to how you play it...

Whever I play the solo I just use the delay and regular distortion from my marshall, it's not dead on but it's very hard to make that solo sound bad...

Good choice of solos to copy btw

The Big Muff would definitely be a wise investment for Gilmour's distortion, though.
