Pick Floyd experiment in Rock

Recently i've come to a conclusion, "Obscured by Clouds" is got to be the only real "Rock n' Roll" album that the Floyd ever wrote. I've been listening to it alot and I find it more Rockin then any Floyd effort, I mean look at "The gold its in the..." and the title track, priceless Floyd. What do you think?

Well Pink Floyd was always a little more than just straight-forward, Zeppelin style rock and roll. That's why it's so cool!

That is my problem with it, it sounds like anyother album of the period from anyother band. It's not particularly Floyd still thats not say its bad just not special.

Personally, I like 'Obscured' more than most of their early 70's work. Yes, there are very hard-rocking tunes on this one, but just listen to "Wots...uh the Deal?", "Mudmen" & "Stay"<------these aren't very hard-rockin' songs at all, and they are probably some of my favorites, they definitely sound like Floyd to me. The album holds together extremely well.

I also recentely came across this album, and the first time I listened to it, I was shocked at the rock and roll simplicity of it.

But after playing it non stop, I realise just how good musicians Pink FLoyd are. So versatile.

Even though, I have not heard any of this live, are they ashamed of this music?

OBC is great, I like it so much because it stands out from the other early '70s stuff. Mudmen is particularly likeable.

Yeah, I've been smiling a lot while listening to 'Obscured'. No!! We cannot have this, it is not depressing enough!! We need cries, and screams.

They played "Obscured By Clouds/When You're In" as a medley in a lot of shows circa 1973, and even played "Childhood's End" as an encore a few times. Yes, this album rules.

OBC is weird in a way that its not a concept album lyrically but musically it is.

It *is* a soundtrack, after all.

Plus it was recorded in a little over a week, so the Floyd were in the same mindset the whole time.

And in the Chateau d'Herouville, no less... same studio where David Bowie recorded Pin Ups (including a cover of "See Emily Play").
