The-bitch-about-OG Thread

I'm gettin tired of people saying that this bands a wanna-be this other band, or this band's the next so and so. Let them be their own band. Here's a good example, people say that Phish, is/was trying to be the next Grateful Dead....Why? Because they are a jam band. That is the only thing tying them to the Dead. If you listen to ther music, I mean really listen to it, you'l see how different they are. I listen to Phish, and to be honest, I can't get into any of the Dead's music to save my life. Did anyone ever think that when these people got together, they wanted to start a band because they enjoyed playing music of that sound, or do you really think that they started a band because they wanted to be the people they grew up listening to?

What was the point of this? Stop trying to insult people. You do a very pathetic job at it. I'll give you a D for effort, but your final result was an F.

Please, link us to some of your great topics.

Mr. Organ Grinder, you are by far the most bitchiest bloke that I'd ever had the oppurtunity of interacting with.

I live in a free, soverign nation that guarantees me the right to free speech. Therefore, I will say and do as I please.

If you have a problem with that, then you can place me on your "ignore" list and my "meaningless" posts will no longer have the ability to bother you.

Please sir, get a life. The amount of people who enjoy this forum in it's current state far outnumber you.

Leave, and don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

Cheers,

~Fletch

rcmno has a point. I'm really sick of hearing who's the next Pink Floyd. Seems there's been hundreds already, the most popular now being Radiohead, Tool, Sigur Ros, Coldplay and the Secret Machines. There is no band that can imitate the genius of the Floyd so as to trick the listener they are listening to a new Floyd song. If people nowadays want something new and different, they should stop looking towards the past for it and make something actually new and different!

Well, don't listen to the comparisons. And watch it all go away.

I agree man, I was just talking about that in that Radiohead forum. I was listneing to the Mars Volta today, and I was going to say to my brother "they're kind of like heavy....no they're like a lighter version of radi...." and I realized, I couldn't compare them to anyone! I mean, they have elements of prog and screamo and jazz and stuff like that, but they are The Mars Volta, not heavy pink floyd, or more straight-forward radiohead. Let a band be who they are, not a comparison of someone else.

rcmno31,
all I was saying is that I was tired of hearing about Phish

do you live where I live?
did you read the articles in the press everyday for two weeks about them?
did you have to deal with 70,000 phish heads run amuck around your home town?
and the fact that every radio and television station advertises them as the next dead, got to be a little much.

I've listened to their music too, in much depth, and theres nothing there, not even a drop of goodness. I'd rather listen to my poo hit the toliet water than that.

sorry that you like them

If you can't appreciate them as musicians, then your appreciation for music in general is not very deep.

I would give you a reason, but it's very inappropriate.

By all means, tell me why you haven't been banned.

You seem to have an answer for everything.
