Re: the best of...

Well, I'm sitting here listening to the new Floyd "Best Of" album. It's nice to hear this collection all as one "suite". But, I must be honest. I still think this is just a money maker. For someone like myself who has been a dedicated Floyd fan for the last 15 years, a live show from say... 75 or 77 would have been better. Much better. This is great for someone who doesn't own the complete Pink Floyd catalog. B/c you get a little bit of everything. But, I am a big fan of live shows, so when "Is there Anybody Out There" was released I was so happy. An "official" release of a Floyd concert other then the post-Waters Floyd! Lets be real here, there are alot of RoIO's of Floyd out there. I am the proud owner of like 75 or 80. And only a handful are true gems. The rest are so-so at best. I would be more than happy to spend the $15 or $20 on an official live release then a boot. But, what can I do? So, I can't complain too much, right? It is after all, a "new" Floyd album. Even if some of us already have all of these albums. Anywho, I guess in the end, I will still treasure it as I do the rest. But still, 1977 or earlier...live? It would be so nice.

"It would be so nice!"

I love that line; I think you all know why!

You make some good points...I think this is really the record company trying to make some money. I've been wavering between buying and not buying it. But I personally don't think will, because they mutilated "Marooned"!

I too am struggling with whether or not to buy it. taking a stand against the "pigs" vs. needing everything that is floyd is tough. I know the second I see it i'll have to have it so I guess I'll avoid record stores for awhile because it really is unnecessary. I may eventually purchase the vinyl though. that would certainly be a gem to me.

Re: the best of...

They did ruin "Marooned". Completely! But, from what I've read, the only thing Floyd, and Waters (I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that. But he did officially leave the band.), agree, to some point, as to what songs to put on the album. Then they gave it to James Guthrie and said "Here you go. Make it all fit on 2 cd's." I was tossing the idea up of not buying it, but it's an old habit. And hard to break. Kind of like smoking. So, it'll sit with the rest of my Floyd collection (but this one may collect some dust). And I'll dig on my RoIO's from the 70's.
