'Dogs'

I fully apologize if this has been posted or asked before, I did use the search button, I've done many searches, but to no avail.

Whenever I play 'Dogs', my dog looks quite upset and begins frantically searching the house, then when the guitar solo kicks in, he's howling for a good 20 or so minutes. Has anybody here came across this before? And does any of you know why the dogs are howling or what it means? (that sounded kind of stupid, but this really intrigues me).

Thank you in advance.

Re: 'Dogs'

He's probably responding to the barking dog effect in the song. My dog acts the same way, once said effect kicks in.

Re: 'Dogs'

Roger Waters was studing animal psychology at the time, and developed Dogs to experiment with Dog's minds. After whipping them into a frenzy with the song, Roger could perform cruel experiments to them. If you play the song backwards, you can hear him beckoning "Come" "Sit" "Stay" "Be my slave"

Actually, maybe your dog just doesn't like Floyd.

Re: 'Dogs'

And that Ca Ira monstrosity he's slopping together now...boy, will that mess up the French people! Who knows what strange psychological meanderings he'll throw in there! You know when the Eiffel Tower caught fire a while ago? Some guy probably listened to the overture, and just couldn't contain himself!

I don't have a dog and now I'm lucky to say it.

Re: 'Dogs'

Some French or Italian composer wrote a song a couple hundred years ago, and the only lyric is "meow". I heard a group perform it, and it was pretty disturbing.

Re: 'Dogs'

I don't have a dog... However, my cats did get a little scared when they heard that eerie part in which there are all those dog sounds. But they soon calmed down, when they realized that, after all, there weren't any dogs around.

That shows that cats are actually smarter than dogs...

Re: 'Dogs'

That's true, but dogs are still smarter than some people...

Re: 'Dogs'

Gotta have diversity, and if it means having people with lower intelligence than dogs, then let them be. Everyone's special in their own way.

Re: 'Dogs'

My dachshund just listens to the song if he is in my room. He sometimes looks around when the dogs howl and bark but thats it.

Re: 'Dogs'

I thought the sounds were so synthesized that dogs really didnt react to them. But I heard that if you let "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys play, at the end theres a train and dog sounds and dogs go crazy when they hear that, like its really eerie and scary for dogs. Never tried it though
