My very odd DSoTM LP purchase...

Alright, today I went with my mom to go shopping for a new 20 gallon tank for my turtle hatchlings, but along the way, we see a garage sale at a nearby church. Hoping there'd be a cheap tank there, we stop to look around. Among my purchases were a Miami Hurricanes Pennant autographed by Dennis Ericson, but the real deal was a box of old LPs.

In the box, the LPs were leaning away from me, while walking by, I notice a rainbow and a dark backround. DSoTM immiedately pops into my mind, I pull it out, and it is Dark Side of The Moon. Excited, the women was selling it for one dollar. Sold.

But the odd thing is, its not a usual DSoTM pressing. The cover is the same, but the album is...weird. It doesn't have that blue triangle, but a yellow label with some green laval lamp looking design. It says "HARVEST: El Lado Obscuro De La Luna". Being Cuban, I understood it said Dark Side of the Moon. Living in Miami, I think I have a reason why. Perhaps in 1973, Harvest made a specific release of DSoTM with the labels in English AND Spanish for those escaping Cuba and coming to Miami, or any other hispanics new to America. (For example, on Side B, it says MONEY (Dinero) US AND THEM (Nosotros y Ellos).

And at the very end of Eclipse, you don't hear Jerry Driscoll and his famous line, even with the speakers blasted. All you hear are a few heartbeats, then what sounds like a fog horn (Not sure if its my LP player or album) then it ends.

And no, it was missing the posters

That's a nice find.

Capitol probably sent a tape to whatever local Harvest/EMI office there was, and they probably cut the vinyl off that copy, and most likely didn't notice the Jerry Driscoll line at the end. There's various cases of early fades, etc. on foreign Beatles releases.

I've never heard it, despite owning DSOTM on CD (both the 1994 remaster and the SACD), tape and vinyl.

Actually Lumiere, I've read you can only hear the few seconds on "Ticket to Ride" on the LPs. On some japanese CDs from the 80s you can hear it to, when DSotM was first transfered to CD. But over the years, as quality got better, they assumed the Ticket To Ride thing was a "musical bleed", thus for the 1994 release (As I also have) took it off.

And I really wouldn't call it a foghorn. I put it on last night again, and I didn't hear it this time. It must've been a cackling or something weird. There was a huge ball of dust on the little stick that plays the album.

Yes, I did. Later that day. ^_^ But with Hurricane Frances hurling in my general direction...doesn't look too good. Time to put garbage bags over anything I don't want damaged. Like that new fish tank and my DSoTM memorabillia (DVD, CD, LP)

I used to have a turtle. I let him go at the creek last summer though. He was getting too big and I didn't have enough money (or room) for a new tank.

These are Florida Box Turtles. They're endangered I believe, but i've been told no animal society group will come after you. Adopting Florida Box Turtles are actually suggested if you find one lurking in the wild. The end result is I have 2 big turtles roaming my backyard, while I got 3 hatchlings, thus what the tank is for.

I looked through my girlfriend's Mom's Lp collection from the 60's and 70's and found a copy of "Ummagumma"! Out of all the pf efforts this is the only one I found, weird in a way. It was missing the studio record though, I could only find the live part. I wanna buy it off her so bad, but I don't she will sell.
