| The better Genesis album. Very often i hear that Selling england by the pound is hailed as Genesis' best album. While i think it's The lamb lies down on broadway it has much more good songs on it. Selling england by the pound only has a few good songs on it like Firth of fifth and The cinema show. Now i wanna know what do you think is the better album? PS this is not a D.D.T so don't start with me i've read every Genesis thread around.

| Re: The better Genesis album. lol...no chance...The Lamb whups it.... A trick of the tail is their finest for me anyway. and Mad, mad moon their best song fave era 1974-1979 I also believe Firth of fith to be the best solo of all time...and the most emotional. yes, sir! I never liked anything by Genesis, with the exception of Lamb, which I like very much. I hate Collins, but love Gabriel. |

| Re: The better Genesis album. Collins had the sweetest voice in the 70's!!! then went a bit nasal during the 80's.....was it summer when the river ran dry...... |

Amen! Well, I love both of those albums. Selling is just a great album in every aspect...but not as good as Lamb. Actually, Lamb probably goes in the top 15 greatest albums of the 70s, easily (if not higher).

| Re: The better Genesis album. I used to work with the girlfriend of Ray something or other that sang on their latter album or something. It wasn't the meeting of this bloke that was amusing, but rather the fact that there was a schemie (chav, if you prefer) in our group who recognised Ray something or other from the band that he was then in ('Tinlid' or 'Turtleskills' or something) and actually did the "You're album is my favourite ever" thing. However, this isn't really the funny part- that honour belongs to him meeting a bloke I know called Chas- a black guy- and this schemie type (probably never having met a gentleman of colour before, this being Edinburgh after all) uttering that Chas' hair was "pure Bob Marley, likes." It was ****ing funny. The twat.

| Re: The better Genesis album. I prefer Selling England By The Pound actually. It is most likely because I haven't really listened to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway enough. While lyrically speaking, the latter must be superior (and I say that not necessarily out of experience, yet as a consensual statement), the former, in my mind, far surpasses Lamb on musical grounds and instills in me a cathartic feeling with its soaring conclusion much as the conclusion to Van Der Graaf Generator's Pawn Hearts album does; both are very solid all the way through I would say, and function as one long song one may also say--thusly placing them as two of my favourite progressive rock albums. |

| Re: The better Genesis album. After hearing tons of good stories about Peter Gabriel's 3, i decided to buy it so i just did that. And i have to say it's a very nice album but it's not nearly as good as lamb.

| Re: The better Genesis album. Selling England by the Pound was my first Genesis album, maybe thats why I like it so much, but it's my favorite. Also, I never really liked Rock Operas, thats why The Wall is one of my least favorite Pink Floyd albums (I still like it though!). 3 and 4 are my favorite PG albums.

| Re: The better Genesis album. I haven't head any of the really old Genesis stuff with Peter Gabriel. I'm a fan of Gabriel and I have most of his solo albums. Which of the two albums sounds more like his solo stuff..I'll probably pick that album up and see if I like it.

| Re: The better Genesis album. I reccomend starting with Nursery Cryme. It's a great album that sadly often gets overlooked.
