Unhappy What happened to Rick Wright?

It seems as though after WISH YOU WERE HERE, Rick Wright made no songwriting nor singing contributions to the Roger Waters' Floyd decade. But it seems like Rick made some good contributions to ANIMALS, namely on "Dogs" (That middle part has got to have been a contribution by Rick) and "Sheep" (which has Rick all over it). But he did almost nothing on THE WALL except background keyboards except maybe on "Goodbye BlueSkys" which sounds like he's also singing on it.
Of course, on the Devision Bell, Rick wrote and co-wrote several songs along with Dave, as well as singing on a few songs. I think Rick's songs are some of the Floyd's greatest material: "Echoes" (at least he wrote a good chunk of it, the verse sounds like his work) "Great Gig in the Sky" "Us and Them" parts of "Any Colour you Like" the turnarounds in "Time" and "Breathe" and parts of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" were Rick's contributions before ANIMALS. And I've always liked the way he and Dave sang together: "Echoes" "Us and Them" "Time" etc.
What really happened to him through this period? I know he and Roger were really up-tight with each other, but was Roger really that anal about it?

roger hates everyone. it all had to be his way from wywh on or else it wouldnt be done at all. why rick did no singing, i have no idea. along with those songs you mentioned, i also think burning bridges is a good dave/ rick song.

It's because Roger hated Rick. He was fired during the wall, and he worked as a session musician, so I'm sure Rog wasn't too keen on him having a say in anything they did.

Actually Richard himself has said that he had no material to contribute, and that he wasn't very creative in the latter years. I especially like his earlier works -- See-Saw & Summer '68 come to mind. I also liked the fact that The Division Bell kind of marked his return to the band as an actual part of the team.

Yeah, but it was quite the year, aye?

Actually, I think Wright has to have the best vocals, in my opinion. Even though he didn't sing on as many songs as the other guys.

The guitar-based chord progression in "Dogs" is Dave's, and the lyrics are Roger's, and the rest of the song we're not sure about but it was probably a collaboration between them. Rick does PLAY all over Animals but admits that he didn't write anything.

He was "just sort of... doing other things, really." Because he wanted to.

Didn't one of Richard's solo works come out in 1978?? Maybe he was too busy with that.

Zee - Identity was the solo project Rick released in '78.

He didn't contribute to animals or The Wall because, as he's said, he wasn't feeling very creative at the time.

That's the polite version. The not-so-polite version is Roger had a stick up his #$%.

You know what is really funny?? Since Richard Wright was already "fired" from the band once The Wall tour started, he was the only one to get paid on that tour--isn't that something??

David, Roger, & Nick actually had to pull money out of thier own pockets to pul it together. But Richard was cashing in the whole time.

You must be thinking of Wet Dream. Zee's record didn't come out until 1984.

Yeah, looks like Rog's little plan backfired aye. I am glad that Rick was paid as a session musician though.

Then again, Rick didn't get a credit on The Wall - wonder what that meant as far as royalties go?
