Re: Opeth

Camel is undeniably Opeth's biggest influence, Mikael Akerfeldt saying so himself on several occasions. I would only suggest "Damnation" for Floyd fans who aren't into extreme metal.

Re: Opeth

I saw them live in Helsinki last October. Weird thing is that you could never believe that their frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt would be a death metal singer. His personality really took me by surprise. He gave humorous speeches between the songs and he pronounced english in this funny old gentleman manner. I think he is one of those artist who express only their negative emotions through art.

And you can really work yourself into this band if you want to. When I first heard Opeth I instantly recognized their talent but I wondered why they must ruin so great music with awful screaming. I still kept listening to them and after a year I noticed I'd become immune for their vocal style.

But if you are fundamentally against metal music I still recommend Damnation album for everyone. It's mellow and has great feel to it.
