Well as I said a long time ago I am fan of prog/psych 70s rock and good metal bands!I am fan of this band for a year now and is one of my favourites ! So I was wondering how many of you do you know them!Favourite album of them? For me is still life!It has the best acoustics and has a great feeling !But any album of them is a masterpiece !

All I know is that they toured with Porcupine Tree a few months ago. I've heard some of thier songs, but I was not terribly impressed. What albums do you reccomend for an Opeth-newbie?

Yeah man they toured with porcupine tree but they played their melodic stuff from their last album damnation!Look , opeth are a mix of prog 70s and brutal music! So if you are open-minded get still life and blackwater park! But you must hear them a lot of times

about the phrase "I can't see the meaning....." is from an opeth song and the truth is (as you said) nobody can

Blackwater Park
Deliverance
Damnation

Or anything, really. All the albums blow me away, apart from Morningrise.

I have heard the lead track from Blackwater Park and truly didn't like it. They have more in common with Paradise Lost's earlier stuff than anything that I would care to listen to now I'm all growed up.

I recommend to anyone wanting a taste of OPETH, download (if you're into that sort of thing) the songs "Bleak" and "Deliverance", and listen the whole way through, intently.

Is Opeth like a Gothicband with an opera like femalesinger? I hate those.

Unhappy

I truly tried but their type of music is that funny half/half stuff that doesn't thrill. I'm sorry, but I cannot accept that Opeth have anything to offer me and I'm disinclined to delve any deeper into their brown tapestry for that lucky bit of sweetcorn that I may not find

You're thinking of Nightwish.

OPETH are a progressive death metal band (although their roots are in black metal), who mix pounding, fast death metal with beautiful mellow parts. Breathtaking music.

I forgot to mention - I love your metaphor, and will stop trying to influence you. I respect your opinion.
