welcome to the machine

In my opinion, the song 'Welcome to the Machine' is as Pink Floyd as it gets. If I were to introduce a friend to The Floyd Sound, this is the song I would play for them. Do any of you feel this way about a particular track?

when those crazy synthesizers go off, its like no other. its a pretty good song overall too. just make sure if you do introduce a friend to this song, make sure there not stoned or anything...because well thats what i did and i have to say, ive been a little ever since

WTTM is an excellent track I wouldn't introduce anyone to Floyd specifically with that track (I'd use OOTD) but I would deffinatly suggest it to some one who wanted a few Floyd tracks to get into them. It certaintly has all the flyod trade marks, such as imaginative synthasiser use, simple but amazing guitar and strong lyrics.

Haha, I actually hate (or as close to dislike as I can get with a Floyd song) that song.

dude, oh my god. to be honest, i thought me and my friend were in a space ship and we were gunna die. he had surround sound on and the lights out, needless to say, it was an experience

You shouldn't been listening to "On The Run" then high, with all those crazy space sounds and noises going on.

It's OK - a bit too long and a tad dull. Definitely not the song I'd play to introduce someone to Floyd.

the first time my friend listened to something by the Floyd, other then the wall, was when he was high. I showed him the song Echoes, and he said "I thought I went through hell and back".

We discussed it, and it made sense, but i dont want to get into it, since it took us about 30 minutes to analyse it and decide that it was a story of someone going through hell and back. Well, after that he didnt want to listen to that ever again. Anywase... my point is, be carful how you introduce your friend into something thats not off of The Wall, or DSotM

My first Pink Floyd experience was DSotM w/ Wizard of Oz. But at the time I wasn't really paying attention to the music, as much as the "synchs". My first album to listen to with headphones was WYWH, and as soon as I heard WTTM, i said "Holy shit, this band is insane".
