I'm not into cover bands, but I thought it was an excellent show!

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

I saw em in Cardiff last night. The setlist was really well picked and the performance was faultless. The guitar sound was a bit harsh though..

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

Im gonna pay 40 euro, thats like 50 dollars to see them in the summer if they are any good for that price. I so badly want to see Jethro Tull a previous poster said they saw them. Where`s the closest place they are playing to Ireland? Any British dates? Its weird, Ireland are an English speaker country yet every artist ignores us, though it would be handy cause they could understand us unlike some place like Russia where they`ve played..

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

They're doing a full British tour in a couple of months I believe. They're doing two shows here in Liverpool, the first night is a performance of WYWH with classic tracks and the second night is Animals with classic tracks. I'm not going to either of them.

I saw them in Denver and Colorado Springs. Really good stuff all in all. They even did Carefull with that Axe, Eugene, which was very cool.

They do a very good rendition of Run Like Hell, I might add.

They did that for the encore when I saw them, seeing as Mr Geldof hasn't sent me a text I will have to make do with them in July. Anyone know of any other good trib bands?

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

I'm going to see TAPFS on November 18th in Los Angeles, at the Wilshire Theatre. Got front row center mezzanine, right back from the orchestra section, figuring this is not the kind of show where one wants to sit front row...it'll be better a bit farther back, both sonically and visually.

Aside from a couple of the better tribute bands like The Musical Box (Canadian Genesis tribute; their recreation of TLLDOB album is spectacular), I've never been a fan of such "faux" groups. But a friend sparked my interest in this one, and after checking out some video and audio clips at their site, I wouldn't miss this show for anything. I expect it to be amazing, regardless of the fact that I've seen the real deal on six occasions, beginining with DSOTM in 1974.

Tickets for most dates are $40 or less. From one fan to all of you here, I'd recommend pulling out the old wallet for this one...

;^)

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

They played Gilmour's birthday party and Dave loved them apparently. He even gave them one of his pedals for that squeaking echo thing.

I have been twice once in in the middle of the fourth row form the front (Fantastic stuff going on on the circular screen) the other time I was miles away form the stage and the lazer show was amazing. I recommend both.

I saw them in Belfast last year (around April I think) and they were here again this year (again, I think it was March or April). I'm farely sure they went to Dublin as well (but don't quote me on that...they were definitely in Belfast).

I wasn't overly impressed. Don't get me wrong it was better than I could do...but when I think Floyd I think of a mind-blowing experience. The Oz show was a mere brain-fart. Mid-range PA...music was well done but the sound wasn't much beyond that of a pub band...and the vocals just weren't right.

In comparison, the Roger Waters show I saw a few years back WAS mind-blowing (and if it had included Gilmour, Mason and Wright I probably would have had an aneurism). The Austrlian show came a VERY distant second to the Waters show.

Your kidding! The tribute act wasn't as good as an original member of the band with a far bigger budget and the added advantage of actually having written the songs himself!!!! Did you demand your money back?

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

That's the main reason I avoid tribute bands like the plague, after the real thing anything else is a poor substitue.
