I was expecting something more than I got...because people have said it's almost as good as the real thing (read johnroxx's review on page three of this thread).

I remember Fixxlevy telling me he thought it was just like he imagined a Pink Floyd show from the early to mid seventies.

With all those wonderful comments I was, actually, expecting something more impressive than I saw / heard. I still read reviews like Johnroxx and wonder if it was the same band that I saw, but then there's only one group using the shape of Australia instead of the prism (or a kangaroo on the WYWH graphic).

Maybe they just had a bad night when I saw them, or maybe then venue was crap, either way I left the show feeling quite disappointed.

Yeah, I might go again if they're back this way.

Did I say in my "review" that TAPFS was "almost as good as the real thing?"

No. I believe the word I used was "spectacular," and I stand by that assessment.

Could be you're right about having the misfortune of catching them on a "bad night" back in '04. True or not, though, I'm sorry the concert you saw apparently wasn't as great as the one we were treated to in Los Angeles a few months ago...

;^)

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

I don't know TAPFS and it seems that they don't come here so fast.
Last year i saw Off the wall and they are a very good tribute PF band.

In my opinion, and contrasting with the Dr Cheese opinion, it's good existing tribute bands, to keep alive the Pink Floyd soul and, more important, children and adolescents become in new fans.

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

Yeah, they are very good, and it seems that they will perform "The Wall Show".

The set-list changes. They have been known to perform albums in-full (Dark Side when I saw them)...but they usually play all / most of the classics.

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

Myself (fixxlevy) and my Monobrowed co-pilot (Mr Driven) are off to see Aussie Pink Floyd in Belfast this very Sunday, which should be shit-kicking entertainment, I'm reckoning

Re: Australian Pink Floyd Show

Good entertainment, they certainly are.
But Dr Cheese has a good point here. I've seen them, I enjoyed their show, but true emotions will come on saturday night when I will attend David and Richard's show in Milan.
