Nights So Dark

You walk outside,
So dark is the night sky,
step into the open and try to hide,
from nights so dark they make you cry.

Stand under the sun,
and feel warmth surround you,
stand under the night sky,
and let the emptiness empty you.

It takes nothing physical,
just the your fire and it's spark,
as I take nothing from this,
and from nights so dark.

Sunrise

The first awakening wink of the morning sky,
peers over the mountain begins a new day,
and as the night sky turns from black to auburn to warm golden rays,
I lie in my bed and watch as the sunrise starts a new day.

The cold fears of darkness are engulfed in the flames of the sun,
And we all live for tommorow forgeting what was so important about today,
and as the night sky turns from black to auburn to warm golden rays,
I lie in my bed and watch as the sunrise starts a new day.

btw I was writing this (the first time) and accidentally hit the ESC key, clearing my entry...

I really like the first one, brings back some nice memories.

Sunset

The day is done, it's over but not won,
this marks the start of a new struggle,
where we will always try but will not forget,
how much they loved to watch the sunset.

A wasted youth tirelessly tries to start again,
while his only help stands over him telling him he's doing wrong,
and who doesn't stop when they see the car wreck,
who doesn't love to watch the sunset.

That tired sad man works through the night,
trying to make it back to when things were right,
back to the time when he could just drift along,
back to before it all went wrong.

It's been so long since he said goodbye,
to his wife and kids who just went to the store,
it's been so long since he said goodbye,
it's been so long since he could still cry.

He looks back on that day, driving down the road,
it meant so much, how could he forget,
he just looked away, just before the wreck,
he just loved to watch the sunset.

And when he woke up all he could see,
were his children, dying so peacefully,
the vacant look in their eyes, how could he could forget,
that all he wanted was to watch the sunset.

And so he drank himself to death,
and on the last night, just before his last breath,
it's so easy to let go once he forgets,
that his children died, too, watching that sunset.

Excellent.

I love this bit.

The golden sun lights the bright blue sky,
while clouds dance aimlessly,
and the lonley moon speaks softly,
to those as cold as itself.

And as the sun still burns up the days sky,
the sunset pulls the fire down,
as a new moon rises and holds the spark,
keeping the light in nights so dark.

i like them all

The lonley moon guards those empty nights,
where darkness holds it's grip so tight,
and the sun has moved on to start a new day,
for some one else.

As the sun starts to rise, the moon runs and hides,
and the darkness dissappears.
and with the sun back again, I don't need to find a friend,
just someone who really cares.

The Horizon

Stretch across the rolling green plains,
over the forest's trees and streams that are twisted in a maze,
untill you reach the farthest point,
farther than you could ever know and go up.

And reach up for the brightest star,
the one that shines the lightest in the sky,
go up to the star, and float along,
in a place in reality where there is no time.

Then float back down, and swim across the deepest ocean,
and swim far down, until you think you'll never breath again,
and touch the sea bottom and let go,
and float back up, and feel yourself rise.

return to the air and with your first breath softly say,
that the stars are golden, and the lands are far,
and the seas grow so dark you think you'll never see again,
but nothing under the stars compare, to the touch of the horizon.

When the moonbeams light the darkest hole,
and sunshines lights can't be seen no more,
and we live in darkness with one spark,
a small little light for nights so dark.

But when the dark stays,
and the suns run away, who'll hold the light during day?
who'll be my friend while the moon is away?
to light up my path while I'm on my way.

The Moon

And so without the sun I go on and try,
but I'm starting again, I'm learning to fly,
and when the moon rises again, I'll know where and when,
I gotta go home.

And as the phone rings, the bird flies and sings,
and is released into the free nights sky.
and with the moon in the sky and stars above,
I look to the right and find my true love, resting peacefully.

She breathes the softest breath,
as I look back to the left,
and see the lonely moon sigh,
and I ask, why?

And so he gazes down on me, speaking so softly whispers,
when the stars all fall and you've passed away,
I'll be left in the sky with nothing to say,
and no friend for me to guide them on their way.

I smile looking up and I reply,
there'll always be someone like me, wondering why?
And if this road is the one I should be on,
and if there should be a storm, who'll guide me.

But your one light shining through the night,
will show them the way, to where they must lay,
down next to the one they hold dear,
and protect them from, doubt and fear.

And the moon beamed the brighter,
knowing that he was still needed,
by those that need a friend or,
just someone to light their path.

'The Wasted Youth' is very much like 'Sunset', I noticed echoes of the same theme in both and some of the lines were similar-ish. Do both poems have the same meaning? All of them are very good.
