Re: that ethereal More

"Remixed" is the word we're looking for here. If the multitrack masters still exist, they could do a new 5.1 mix, even (a la DSOTM 30th anniversary).

Re: that ethereal More

Cymbaline is oddly quiet, and why is Nile Song in fake stereo when it had overdubs?

Almost the same song, but the tempo is much slower with Ibiza Bar, and the track is a liitle more calm than The Nile Song.

More of a reprise, really. Pink Floyd is good at doing those.

Re: that ethereal More

Maybe all that exists of the Nile Song tapes is a mono downmix, h ence the need for fake stereo. That would suck.

Re: that ethereal More

That would suck, indeed.

Anyway, a little while ago on eBay (maybe about two years ago) I saw that someone who had associations with Regent Sound Studios in London (near the Holborn Street Tube station [where Winston Churchill shacked up during WWII] and also where the Beatles recorded a few songs) offered up two 8-track reel tapes from Pink Floyd's 'More' sessions. This person was really detailed in what the labels said, and even had pictures of the tapes themselves. Too bad I can't remember what was on them.
But he only got them because Regent was throwing out the masters, and he only minded to grab three tapes (the third was stolen after the fact).
So this makes me think that the masters don't quite exist anymore, which is actually pretty sad.

And I forgot to keep tabs on that eBay auction, so I've no idea what they sold for.

Re: that ethereal More

Hopefully the tapes will appear on a fan-produced ROIO, and not just left in someone's closet for a few more years.

Not anymore. I think I finally got it. I listened to More just a little while ago, and I guess I must have been in the right state of mind or something, because I actually liked the Quicksilver.

Ususally, I don't pay much mind to the track when it comes on, or sometimes I'd even skip the track (what a sin, aye?). But this time was different. I soaked in what Floyd had to offer -- there is a lot of Wright's keyboard in the track, and no music to speak of. But it is slightly terrifying, especially under a strobe.

More & Ummagumma -- you can really tell these two were made in the same year, even though Ummagumma is sort of split-up. There are many similarities between the two studio albums.
