Has anyone heard Dave's voice lately?

On the Dark Side DVD? Man, he tries to sign along with Breathe in his home studio, and I feel like crying. Poor man can barely sing now. He can't hit the high notes of his voice anymore...

What do you expect, he's in his eighties or something.

No problem... getting a copy of his actual birth certificate was the best thing I did in London last April... after seeing him perform live at the RAH.. anyway!

Y'know, each to their own.

I didn't actually think he was eighty years old.

This is the question.

Who wants to see the Pink Floyd's decline?

I don't.

Whats David's voice got to do with PF declining. After listening to his solo on Alan Parson's cd... I see nothing declining about him. Power on, David!!

Hi everyone,
I just found this site and what a wealth of knowledge on all things floyd! well done!
My point I suppose is this, is it really fair to compare his singing along with the guitar in his studio to a live performance???, on stage you are more inclined to belt out vocals like breath, in the studio he is merely jamming for effect, not seriously performing to a full scale audience. Though clearly he is showing signs of aging (afterall he is not immortal, though you can only wish!) I believe that he has a good few years left in him, he also has not lost interest in music yet, which for someone who has the financial security to retire anytime he feels like is commendable. And concidering his family commitments, I wouldnt entirely blame him if he did hang up the guitar (though I would find it hard to forgive him! hehe ). lets just hope that he discovers some form of yoga and gets fighting fit so he has the energy left over to play after all those kids! good man David!, nice to know the equipment is still in tune!

Exactly, I don't see nothing wrong with David's voice.

Re: Has anyone heard Dave's voice lately?

Its fine!

He sang wonderfully at his last live concert and that was only in 2001.

Fat Old Sun would be terribly hard to sing, and he made it sound better than it did in the 70's.

Re: Has anyone heard Dave's voice lately?

I think one reason why people are asking is because he's played with several other people since then, but really hasn't sang in public since that Meltdown show. But that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with his voice, it just means he's not really doing any Floyd...or his own stuff... he's basically just become a hired gun for others... and I think he likes that.
