| "Mother" lyric question I was sitting in class listening to PF's "Mother" and I was thinking about all the words and then I though: Why would a Brittish person write in lyrics "Mother should I run for President? Mother should I run for Government?". Those are two American things... |

| Re: "Mother" lyric question ummm...it's "trust" the Government, which all countries, of course, do have.

| Re: "Mother" lyric question Also, "President" rhymes with "government"--- which Prime Minister does not.

| Re: "Mother" lyric question He never says President of what though. He could mean President of the Gloomy Old Bastards Club.

| Re: "Mother" lyric question No, that wasn't until after the Final Cut was released. You must mean Junior Vice-President.

| Re: "Mother" lyric question This internal struggle, of course, forms the basis for one of Roger's lesser known works, "The Pros and Cons of Campaigning for Senior Positions In Exclusive Parliamentary Societies of Gloomy Old Bastards." What were you doing listening to PF in class anyway? You should pay more attention to your studies! Repeat after me: "The area of an acre is a rectangle whose length is one furlong, and whose width is one chain."

| Re: "Mother" lyric question Quote:
Wasn't some of 'de Wall' recorded here in the U.S.?? That really probably has nothing to do with it, but I gave it a try. I know on the Is There Anybody Out There? version of Mother, when Rog asks "should I trust the Gov't.", the crowd responds with a "no". How popular was the British Government during the time of the recording??
