Why Must All New Music Suck

Their hasen't been any good band since Nirvana (they were not the best either), all the good bands were in the 60's and 70's, damn it, I want good new bands.

Another one of these?

It's not that all new music sucks, it's just that you aren't looking hard enough.

One should also keep an open mind. Check out Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the Secret Machines, and Squarepusher first, then report to us on the state of music today.

Not to mention The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, among others.

As long as Radiohead, David Bowie, and the White Stripes are putting out music, then new music will never suck. And there's more acts than that! Amazing.

The Whit Stripes? Are you serious, maybe i should rephrase my statement, there are no good bands with talent, hate radiohead, just not the same.

I'm saying that Radiohead has only slow songs, they dont have any harder songs, Pink Floyd had a great mix of hard and soft songs, no bands today can match, and where have all the guitar solos gone? Bands today think a guitar solo is playing the chorus riff two notes higher, its not

Oh, I see. Well, the Stripes have plenty of solos, I recommend you listen to maybe 'Ball and Biscuit' or 'Black Math' if you can be arsed to. The former is particularly impressive.

And Radiohead's got plenty of hard songs, again examples: 'Electioneering', 'Bones', 'The Bends', and near on the whole of their first album. I'm not getting on your ass or anything, but there's plenty of good music around today, one's just gotta dig a little or find appreciation in popular music, i.e. the way a pop song is written. It's quite admirable, and harder than you think to write a song that's catchy.

Ehhhhhhh, who really cares. Not me, I don't have time to keep up with the music of today. Most of it is senseless hippy-hoppy music, and if it's not that then it's usually a rock/pop band, aimed at teens.

Sure, there is probably some good stuff hidden under some rocks out there, but Pink Floyd just takes up all the time in my CD player.

Thats true, i'm only 15, and I can tell you that all bands today suck, right now in my cd player there is Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Cream, no bands today can match any of the old bands.

such stubborness. of course all new music sucks if you compare it to the past, as it stands right now its this strong reverence for the past thats giving us all these songs with plain ld boring recycled riffs, true most new music sucks but you're never going to find anything good if you keep looking for a new Zep or Floyd. Music evolves, keep an open mind.

Corrosion of Conformity. Now there is a good band. From their earlier work, to their latter stuff -- they have always managed to play good music. I like the Foo Fighters -- Grohl has quite an energy about him.

But other than that, my knowledge of the "mainstream" music world doesn't go much further than that. Sure, I've been flipping through channels, I've seen the various so-called "musicians" on TV, but nothing has appealed to me.

Nothing has grasped my attention like the Floyd machine.
