You're probably right. Almost every book I've ever read on Pink Floyd has been terrible. Hopefully Nick's new book leaves enough holes in the story that I can throw something together and make a quick buck while setting the record straight once and for all.

I'm starting to like TDB a lot, after listening to it more.

Re: Division Bell question.

I have always enjoyed The Division Bell... Actually, Coming Back to Life is one of my favorite tunes.... period.

(Short dissertation to follow)

I was just noticing as I read through the thread that most folks who like TDB from the start seem to be some of us older folks.. Seem the younger fans out there don't take to it too well.. (maybe I'm wrong). That leads me to a thought....(I know.. scarey,,Dave's thinking again).

Since I was around to buy every PF album since UmmaGumma as a new release, I was required to wait the few years between release dates.. I grew, matured, experienced the world around me as The Floyd did. The news on my TV at night was pretty much the same as the news Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason were watching in the interims between albums. The influences that shaped the sound of the individual albums are as apparent to me now as when I heard them for the first time.

As a younger fan, buying the CD's out of order of release date and not having the ability to experience the social climates that shaped each album, you may not be able to appreciate each work as those of us did when we heard the original releases. I listen to TBD with as much appreciation for the musicality and I do for the nostalgia of the time it came out. The same can be said for WYWH, DSotM, The Wall, etc.

Maybe I'm just rambling.. I hope this makes some sense to sombody.. maybe I just need my pills..

Re: Division Bell question.

Fulghum, i totally agree with you in that most people dont like TDB. Im 17, so i consider myself to be rather young, but i fell in love with the division bell from the instant i heard it. That album probably has the most meaning to me than anything else in the whole world... maybe the wall, but i think the division bell even beats out that one. I wouldnt have it any other way.

O yea, to the division bell haters... your going to hell

every single line in that album i can relate to my life... and im sad to hear that many people cant appreciate it

They have a set of stone heads and a set of metal heads.

I am somewhat of a younger fan (23) and I really enjoy the Division Bell. I think it's a fairly underrated album. I love the communication concept and the artwork is class. All of of the fans I know (except one) that are around my age are hardcore Waters fans and completely dismiss AMLoR and TDB. I doubt they even gave either album a chance.

I think you are right about us newer fans and listening to the albums out of order. I'm somewhat of a newer fan and I found some albums more difficult to get into at first until I worked my way to them.

Re: Division Bell question.

One thing's for sure -- Dave got the upper hand over Roger by hanging on to Storm and using his talents for Dave's albums.

Compare AMLOR, TDB, PULSE artwork to The Wall, TFC, Radio KRAP, and ATD art work.

Rog made a mistake pissing off Storm.
