Top 20 Pink Floyd songs

As some of you may or may not know (or may or may not care), the latest edition of Q magazine was entirely dedicated to Pink Floyd. I haven't got it yet, but according to Rogerwatersonline it features a top 20 Floyd songs poll as voted for by the public. This was the result.

1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond
2. Comfortably Numb
3. Time
4. Echoes
5. Wish You Were Here
6. Sheep
7. Brain Damage
8. Speak to Me/Breathe
9. Money
10. Another Brick pt. 2
11. Eclipse
12. Us and Them
13. Dogs
14. Hey You
15. See Emily Play
16. Run Like Hell
17. Have a Cigar
18. Arnold Layne
19. Pigs
20. Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun

The top 5 was kind of predictable. In fact there's no real surprises in the whole list really, but personally I'd change quite a few. Interestingly, nothing from post-Waters Floyd made the list.

Why are you surprised?

If I understand, the poll is on a Roger Waters' site.

No, the poll features in Q magazine, I got the result of the poll from Rogerwatersonline because I haven't bought the magazine yet.

And I'm not surprised.

If you spent less money on beard strimmers you may be able to afford the magazine.

To steal your phrase, I just can't be arsed to get it yet.

Oh, and it's shampoo and conditioner I spend my money on.

Not just nothing from post-Waters, but nothing post-The Wall made the list actually. Obviously I would make my changes, as everyone else here. An interesting point to me is Sheep well ahead of Dogs, unpredictably I'd say. Maybe the guys were right compiling Echoes, after all. Top 5 is no surprise for anyone.

Echoes is not that great really, the useless middle part just doesn't do it for me.

Uhhh, these five wouldn't have made my list. My top 20 list would be very different.

I also think that it's intersting that all of Animals (minus Pigs on the Wing) made the list. At least they recognize a great thing when they see one. I probably wouldn't have used Sheep, though.

The useless middle part?? You mean the "intermission" when all the crows are making noise -- I think that part is absolutely scary. I also like the interlude during Atm Hrt Mthr Suite -- spooky as well.

I'm surprised to see that Arnold Layne and See Emily Play are on the list, but that classics like "Careful With that Axe" , OOTD and "Astronomy Domine" didn't make it.

And NOTHING from AHM?

Yes, I didn't really notice that before, but it is odd to see Sheep so far ahead and so high as well.

Yeah, none of the old classics really made it -- "See Emily", "Arnold Layne", & "Set The Controls" are it, nothing until Echoes, and then Dark Side of the Moon.

Where's the stuff from More?? Obscured?? Saucerful?? And there are only two songs from The Wall -- not the best of tracks either, I must say.

Did anybody say "Interstellar Overdrive"?? I thought I heard someone shout "What Shall We Do Now?".

Personally, as much as I love Syd (he'll always be a part of Floyd etc etc) I think the two songs of his on there are two too many.

Possibly the higher ranking of Sheep was due to the fact that it appeared on the compilation album "Collection of Great Dance Songs" where it got greater exposure to casual fans.

Don't forget it was also on 'Echoes'.
