Several Species - Baltimore, MD

I'm going to see Several Species perform 'The Wall' in its entirety at the Recher Theatre on October 15th. I can't wait---I'm too young to have seen Floyd live and this is as close as I'll ever get.

Here is the link:

What I wanted to know was, has anyone here ever seen them? If so, what were your thoughts...all of the reviews I've read have been positive and they've said that they're as close to the real thing as you can get. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The date for the show finally arrived the other night and what I saw blew me away. Several Species sent chills down my spine with how incredibly close they came to reproducing the music of Pink Floyd. As I am only 23, I never had the opportunity to see them perform live, but have still become a huge fan through their studio recordings. Being able to see their music performed live on-stage was an experience I will never forget. Anyone who has the opportunity to see Several Species should take full advantage of it. Not only did they perform the music to a tee, they are also one of the most talented groups of musicians that I have ever seen. Out of all of the live music shows I have seen in my life, their performance the other night definitely catapulted them into my top 5. They peformed with so much passion, it was evident that they loved Floyd as much as the audience they were performing for. I was skeptical going into the show as I had not heard much about the band, and I was still kind of iffy as to whether or not I would appreciate a cover band, or write them off as cheap imitators. I can assure you now though, they are not---they have a goal to pay tribute to the greatest band of all-time---and they do it extremely well.

If you ever have a chance to see these guys play, don't hesitate to buy tickets. They are truly incredible. They are an almost exact replica of Pink Floyd, but at the same time, their showmanship and musicianship shines through to give them their very own, unique flair.

Thanks for the info and review, Mighty.

It's good to have an eyewitness testimonial on record of the different Floyd tribute bands. They're the closest we'll ever get henceforth to seeing the real thing. Hell, in some cases, they're probably even better.

BTW, Welcome aboard!
