Polly Samson's Role on TDB: Pink FRAUD? On another forum, a certain Pink Floyd fan we all know who built the "largest Pink Floyd site" in the world, but whose name I won't specifically mention because she has a history of contacting other PF website owners and raising a fuss, stated that: Polly Samson's "lyric writing" on "The Division Bell" only consisted of, quote, "Helping Dave out on a word or two when he got stuck." This person also claimed that Dave only gave Samson a songwriting credit so she could have a "separate income." (Though I thought she was a journalist and had an income.) Does anyone know the vailidity of this statement? And *if* it is true, do you think "a word or two" means your name should be on the song?

It's more likely to be the other way round I reckon. That website is world famous for talking absolute bollocks - remember the "tour" that they announced a couple of years ago?

No, I don't. You got me curious though...

My memory is a little hazy but as I recall they posted an announcement on their news page saying that a source close to the band (who they naturally didn't wish to name) had confirmed a new album with a world tour to follow. Something along those lines anyway, I'm sure other people must remember it.

"Source close to the band" huh? Well this particularly site knows their history, and is packed with more information than a drug smuggler packed with loaded balloons, but they have an arrogance about them; in their news section they mentioned a report of a "Pulse" DVD and said "*we* have not yet confirmed this..." My thought was, "Who cares whether or not YOU have confirmed this? Who made you an official spokesperson?" On their forum, the owners have made repeated references and implications that they are close with the Pink Floyd band members themselves. Yet they have never shown one shred of evidence that supports that. And if a source "close to the band" reported a new album and tour, then that shows how "close" they really are. This site also seems to be constantly aware of any other websites that criticize them...I believe they call that obsession. Anyway, if anyone knows more about Polly Samson's actual contributions to TDB and the validity of the statement I heard, I'd appreciate it.

Why would anyone ever want to visit another Pink Floyd fansite?

Yes yes fine, but does anybody know anything about my question?

Dr Cheese is probably correct: Polly did most of the lyrics with Dave sticking his oar in here and there. Literally and figuratively...

Where was Dave sticking his oar again?

He was, you know, helping Polly achieve her climax. In lyricism.

As Dr. Evil would say, "Rrrright"...anybody got an answer that won't turn into a sexual innuendo? :P Or one based on some interviews or articles or books? (Not that I don't appreciate the previous observations.)

She probably gave Dave the "go **** myself" line... which, incidentally is the best line in the album.
