Roger may release the footage if it can be cleaned up, cleared for copyright, and remixed for 5.1. Otherwise I respect his decision to not release something that is of substandard quality. |

| Re: the wall 1980-1 on video???? This thread brings to mind some other stories from my tape trading/collecting days- and FWIW, I always hated to deal with people who sold stuff, never sold a single tape in my life and damned proud of it- but sometimes there was no other way to get it, unfortunately- but I digress-- anyway, hope they are indeed out there for free downloads somewhere- The Nassau Coliseum show, which is supposed to be from the 2.27 show, is a two camera shot allegedly by someone within the crew. This surfaced in around 1993 or so, and it was quite a surprise to see it appear, as no one saw it coming. It is not that close but interesting if you get a good copy- I was able to trade for it on video when it first came out, and I hear it is on DVD now. There is another show, which is supposed to be from London 8/9/80. I've just recently seen this one and it is pretty interesting, using several cameras and having a lot of closeups. The band must have known they were being filmed for this one- but I've no idea of its origin. It is a 1980 show because of Snowy White being on guitar. Now, neither of these shows were the ones filmed by Alan Parker, because those were the June shows in 1981, and those were on film (the others are video). I have read a number of interviews in which these films were mentioned, and the more and more recent they get, the more and more it is seems like Roger is warming toward releasing them. However, I also remember reading an interview with either Marc Brickman or Mark Fisher, in which he said that the films were too dark and not really enjoyable or watchable, and indeed, Parker junked them to make a real movie. But, if I were a betting man, I'd bet we will see those films someday sooner or later. |

| Re: the wall 1980-1 on video???? i downloaded a file on WINMX called"echoes- the best of pink floyd (japenese tv.mpg" and, it has some AMAZING live footage of the the wall, it looks like it was shot on film, not video, and a bunch of interviews with the band, and it has clips (about 1 minute, or more) of every song. it really is some great footage, and the quality would be great on dvd, imho. look for that file (590 MB) |
