| Re: Obscured By Clouds/Dark Side conceptual connection? (*Sigh*) No. I'm saying that, in my opinion, without the layout of OBC (i.e. a CLIMAX that shows the loss of a civilized persona), DSOTM would have been JUST A COLLECTION OF SONGS rather than a collection that actually LEADS TO SOMETHING. When I say just collection of songs, an example tracklist might have been: 1. Money 2. Time 3. Brain Damage 4. On the Run 5. Speak to Me/Breathe 6. Eclipse 7. Any Color You Like 8. Us and Them 9. Great Gig in the Sky See? Now they're no longer sequenced and there's nothing BUILDING UP TO the loss of sanity. It's just "Hey some of these songs are about what can lead you to go nuts, some are about just going nuts." So, again, IMO without the blueprint of OBC, which resulted in a climax that signified the character's loss of civilized persona, DSOTM wouldn't have BUILT UP to anything, it would have been just a random collection of songs. | Re: Obscured By Clouds/Dark Side conceptual connection? oh, ok, so what your saying is that OBC had absolutely no impact on how DSOTM was layed out? why say such a thing? j/k ok, i got you, but i think it just sort of happened that way, not really planned

| Re: Obscured By Clouds/Dark Side conceptual connection? Me too but when I say "it just happened" I mean the layout of OBC just happened and going into DSOTM they said "let's do sort of the same thing where it all leads up to something." Anyway, I've repeated myself so many times when it wasn't even necessary,so I think I made it reduntant which I apologize for. |
