Re: Smokers/Pipe smokers?

You can buy small humidors with "a slice of apple" already built in. Usually they range from 30 to 60 dollars.

Re: Smokers/Pipe smokers?

Hm. I suspect silica gel might achieve the opposite effect... It absorbs moisture, while the apple slice / orange peel / etc. emits moisture.

Any suggestions on the following?

1. How to keep that S.O.B. lit?
2. I have a rather large quantity of tobacco. Any ideas of "preserving" it - as in not let it become dry or wet?

To preserve, throw in a cotton ball soaked in water and maybe an orange peel or two... I get this technique from preserving "other" smokables. Plus it tastes a hint orang-y....

Re: Smokers/Pipe smokers?

I have a humidifier for my guitar case... consists of a piece of chalk in a little plastic tube. I suspect that would keep the stuff humid, without imparting any additional flavor.

You soak the chalk in water, stays moist for weeks.

For real? I'll have to try that. Now that the weather's turned cold I'm having trouble keeping my guitar in tune.
