I don't know if anyone has realised this before but when listening to Floyd i noticed that a few albums actually finish the way they started. For example...

Meddle: Wind at the beginning and at the end

Dark Side: Heartbeat...

Wish You Were Here: Shine On You Crazy Diamond

...and The Wall: have you noticed that the music at the beginning of the album (before in the flesh starts) is the same as the music at the end? And even more interesting is the fact that the music just sort of cuts off at the end...maybe they're meant to be joined, so that the whole thing starts again!...who knows???

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

eh yeah I guess, the beggining and the conclsuion should be the same, as in intro/outro, Floyd just blends it in very well.

Well as far as the wall, the words uttered at the end are "isnt this where" and the beginning of the album says "we came in", signifying that we constantly build up walls in our life, and are always going through the process of building them up and tearing them down.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Don't forget that Animals starts and ends with the same song (but with different lyrics).
That's one of the things I like about the Floyd.

I don't think that Meddle ends on a wind effect. I'd call it more of a choral thing.

Cheers,

Mark

Geddy, how the heck does the intro and outro messages signify the building and tearing of a wall?

Seriously, inform me, i really don't know!

And to the person who started this topic, I have noticed that on the first listen of every album you listed. Nothing new to a true floyd fan!

What this topic means to Madcap Diamond:

I've have thought about this for about 4 minutes and have made a conclusion. A concept album is like a thesis paper or a research paper. An intro paragraph explainins what is going to be discussed in your body paragraphs. And the conclusion paragraph should restate the thesis and come to a conclusion about the topic.

A true friend always stabs you in the front!

first off Madcap, i love your sig, I got into queensryche like 3 weeks ago and i absolutely love the operation mindcrime album.

But as for "isnt this where we came in", its like saying havent I been in this situation before, or something like that. I dont know, its hard to explain in a literal sense.

Thank you, Mindcrime is definitely in my top 5 albums. I got into them about 6 months ago. I started out with Empire, which also rips on the government a lot! I recomend both of those great albums. The reason Mincrime captures me, is because the concept is a story.(i.e. You cold make a movie out of it like The Wall.)

I also wanted to add something important,(well, nothing new).

Amused to death starts and finishes with commentary by Alf Razzell. Not to mention the sound of crickets in a field! I know I previously posted "nothing new", but im just trying to contribute to this topic.

Enjoy!
