guitar players, have you tried this? Well i tried to do this on my own, first using a bottlecap, but that didnt work since it got stuck in between the strings, but then i found a highlighter, and used that... its makes a very cool sound ... very cool, i was wondering if anyone has ever tried to do this before, besides david that is Last edited by Chaospilot; 10-20-2004 at 10:07 PM.

Yeah I've tried markers, but they sound kind of muted. I love doing random stuff with my slide. If you watch a live performance of "Televators" by the Mars Volta, Omar is using a slide, or something metal, way up high on the string with all kinds of trippy effects. That's the same thing I do with my slide. It sounds awesome if you use delay and reverb.

i gata get my self a delay and echo petal, i dont really have much, except for my guitar, and amp, so im going to have to make do with what i have right now, tomrrow ill look for a metal pipe or something to try and find the different sounds i can get.... I have tried it so far with overdrive on and gain all the way up with some reverb, sounds cool, but i like it with gain about half way, with overdrive off, and reverb as high as it goes. Of course im talking about MY amp, but im sure you can do the same with yours and get just about the same sound. Last edited by Chaospilot; 10-20-2004 at 11:35 PM.

I used to zap my pickups with my VCR's remote control, and it would go "bloop bloop beep beep."

Using the flash on a disposable camera next to an electric guitar's pickups can get a very interesting sound

So Botley, you were playing Devo then?

It was during "Interstellar Overdive" that I would break that one out... I don't have a zippo lighter you see.

If I turn my guitar all the way up, overdrive on, and tune all the way up and turn off one pickup I can get this really weird feedback, kinda like a raygun from an old movie or something.

I use a "medicine bottle" ala Duane Allman. Also, try it with an open tuning, like D-G-D-G-B-D

i have a glass. amazing wat u can do with it. and the tremelo stick running up the strings near the pick ups. slides are awsome. i love it. although it is hard for me to do a muted slide. and u guys wanna see a really cool effect. david uses this effect in Echoes to make those high pitch noises like laughing arounf the middle of the song where its all silent except for that eerie shriek. u get ur wah wah, and put ur guitar chord in teh amplifictation part, and the instrument jack part to the amp. if u do it the right way u will go HOLY SH*T. ( as i did ). also it would sound better if u have feedback and control it with the tone knob on teh geetar.

can you rephrase that? i want to know how to do it, but i dont understand what you mean by getting your guitar chord in the amplification part and the intrument jack part to the amp...

| Is glass supposed to be the best slide? I gave one to my girlfiends 10-year-old daughter for her birthday and I hope it was the right kind. Quote:
