Is There Anybody Out There?

I just got this today (Japanese import!) and I must say...an amazing piece of work. Absolutely stunning to hear a work of such magnitude played by a band.

Fair enough, it's orchestrated so there's very little scope for jamming, but I don't care - the band sound so tight (the jam at the end of ABITW II is STUNNING). I must admit, I got goosepimples during MC:Atmos while Yudman is introducing, the surrogate band start jamming in the background and then blast into 'In The Flesh?' while he's still talking.

Genius.

So, discuss. What are your thoughts on the album?

I love it. To pieces!

You PM'ed me after I made a thread on it in the RW forum, and said it was your favourite album and that I HAD to buy the thing. I'm glad I did.

Yes it's a great album although many people don't see that. I never knew i inspired someone to buy an album, nice. But calling it my favourite right now would be a little to much my opinion has changed a bit. My all time favourite right now is The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway what a piece of art!

What's on the Japanese import? I think it is an excellent live cd and I hope Roger releases the DVD someday!

There's an extra scrap of paper which includes all the lyrics (in both English and Japanese), the track times, and all the band member comments (in Japanese).

The front cover picture is a teeny bit different (to my eyes, at least).

The masks are quite a lot darker than the European editions and the bricks have been lightened quite a bit.

That's it. It also has a cool-as-hell OBI strip.

It was not untill this version (with the inclusion of WSWDN?) that I fully appreciated The Wall. The studio version is good but nothing beats Gilmour's solo's on this (except agruably PULSE CN) and the rest of the playing is fantastic Mason's drums for once really standing out. This is definatly the ultimate version of the album if only it had a visual aspect.
