| They are all equally important, if you took any of them away you would'nt have that wonderful Pink Floyd sound. Sure some of them have done more than others but, let's take a look shall we. Without Syd writing 'Arnold Layne' they would never have gotten a record deal. Where would they be without Rogers brilliant lyrics and his signature octave swoops on bass. Or without Daves orgasmic guitar playing and wonderful voice. Nick Mason? Just listen to 'One Of These Days', 'nuff said. I think Ricks playing is the most intrigal part of the Pink Floyd sound. I know that everyone has a favorite Floyd, and I realize not everyone chooses sides but, alot of people do. Just try having an intellectual Floyd conversation with anyone on a Roger Waters fan site and you'll see what I mean. If you must be mad at someone be mad at Roger and Dave. You'd think that after all these years thoes two stubborn bastards could work something out. Well, untill next time remember to love your fellow Floyd. _________________ "Would you like to know all the hidden meaning?"-Syd Barrett 'One In A Million' |

| Actually, that's not true. If Dave et al were prepared to go to court to keep the name, then they should have at least made some sort of contingency plan to ensure that any further releases would retain at least a semblance of the quality that Roger brought to the band. Since he left, there have been nothing but middling AOR studio albums and live releases, with nary a nod to the inventiveness and originality of The Golden Period. The lyrics are not particularly inspired, and the tunes themselves rock not. As an ongoing concern, Pink Floyd should have thrown in the towel when Roger left, instead of trading on the cache of past glories, and the charity of the fanbase. Not one word of this is untrue. | And Radio Kaos would have been a great Floyd record, huh? |

| Radio KAOS wasn't a Floyd record. If it doesn't say Kellogs on the box, it's not Kellogs in the box. |

| must you be so annoying eugenesaxe. and why do you always feel that you have to proclaim yourself a "true" floyd fan. take your head out of your arse for just a minute and maybe more people won't lose more respect for your dumbass. and i have to disagree on your opinion of each album sounding different. man, get a life. |

| You know I was just saying to someone the other day, gee The Final Cut sounds just like UmmaGumma. I never said I was a "true" Floyd fan. I'm just a fan who thinks all members of the band deserve credit, not just one. I'm not trying to come off sounding like I'm the only fan here. Once again im just voicing an opinion, sheesh. At least have the courtesy to put your name on when you try to sound like a tuff guy.How are you going to tell me to get a life, you're the one replying. By the way I don't feel i should stoop to your level and resort to name calling. | While I might have approached it a bit differently, I believe that eugenesaxe has got some good points. As a fan of both RW's, I have to say that the thought of the band's breakup has been a matter of sadness for me. I think that had things not gone so far as they did, we might be looking at a totally different situation. I hate it when I know that other people are hurting...and I can imagine that it was a very painful thing for all. But...since it DID go so far, I think in some ways that I'm glad they're apart. As a fan of Mr. Wright, the idea of a reunion does not sit well in my mind. Heck, even the part of me that is a fan of Mr. Waters objects to the idea as well. Only in this separated state does everybody feel free to best develop their talents--nobody on either side seems to feel crowded out by another; that's the advantage of separation. Since I enjoy the talents of all members, I simply end up getting even more to choose from, depending on what I wish to hear at the moment. Both sides have successfully moved me to tears with their work, but in totally different ways. And, of course, the collaborative works have accomplished this as well. I revel in the richness of the diverse collection I own of Pink Floyd and solo records, each having its own unique merits. I do happen to have opinions about who was wrong and who was right, but I don't let it stop me from enjoying ALL of the PF and solo work that I can get my hands on. Perhaps one of the worst sadnesses is, though...that the FANS are still fighting, and perhaps are even more vehement now than the band members themselves. This has been going on for so long...children born the year of The Final Cut are now eighteen--legal adults. Think of that. That is how long this bitterness has been going on...and in a battle that is not ours to fight. The band itself seems to have got past the worst of it, though I think a couple are still firing shots at each other...though not to the extent that they have before. At least one that I know of (at least, from reading interviews) seems to have truly made peace with the past and moved on; I don't see in those interviews the constant stream of pointed remarks. Yet the FANS are still fighting, perhaps still with the ferocity of all those years ago...what a shame. |
