What is wrong with me!?
I've just bought "Close To The Edge" - album by Yes because a friend of mine told me that this is the best album by Yes and I had to bay it soon. But after listening to it, I'm not really impressed. This does not sound as good as "Yes" and "Fragile". ARF, what is exactly my problem?

i like the song Close to the Edge, but not every song on the album...I really liked the album Relayer, and The Gates of Delirium to be more specific

I liked Close to the Edge well enough. I bought Fragile yesterday on vinyl.

This is a hard album to get into. Actually, it was the first Yes album I got. If you sit down and listen to it enough, though, you'll learn to love it...all 3 songs are wonderful, in their own way.

Just give it some time.

Really loved CTE, was my first YES purchase. Nothing is wrong with you, you just don't like it.

EDIT: Although, to be perfectly frank, CTE is hardly a record which you can get into quickly. It takes time.

I found that most Yes songs take a while to get into. I can still remember when i HATED Heart of the Sunrise but then after listening to it enough i really began to appreciate it.

Personally, i love the yes album: Going for the one, but as far as i know, its not as critically acclaimed and loved as fragile and CTE

Close to the Edge is a bloody brilliant album AND brilliant epic song altogether. Definitely need to give it a few listens. Yes takes patience.

While we're on the subject, can anyone help me figure out the Tales from Topographic Oceans album? I have given that album many many listens and it still sounds like utter crap and drivel to me.

Getting into Close to the Edge takes some time. I hope you got the latest edit, some of the bonus material is also good. It includes a good version of "America".

It's been a while since I posted this thread...and I've listened to Close to the edge like 40 times since then, and guess what... I love that song

Btw isn't the version of "America" on Fragile?
