Inspired by the Campaign season...

Having been overwhelmed with political ads, debates, ad nauseum.. (both Presidential, Gubanatorial, and local)
I was inspired to jot this down.. it's a work in progress..

Middle of the Road

It’s a lonely walk
In the middle of the road
It’s a lonely talk
Down the middle of the road
Dodging rocks thrown from the ditches
In the middle of the road.

Off the left shoulder
Many gather in the weeds
Clinging to hope and belief
Their hearts still bleed.
Meanwhile I stand alone
In the middle of the road.

Upon the righteous right
People stand alone
Gathering wealth and power
To wield upon their throne
I watch this from the centerline
Alone in the Middle of the road.

Our Mothers taught us all
To play nice and get along
To accept each other’s differences
And try to right the wrongs
But now we choose sides and battle
The other side of the road.

It breaks my heart to see
What’s been happening to you and me.

These tired old eyes
Have seen too little compromise.

Won’t you join me
In the middle of the road.

That's pretty good. The rhyming scheme is simple, but the words are big enough but don't have that "trying too hard" vibe. Good work.

That's great! I really like it. I guess the only criticism I have is that the term "righteous right" while it sounds clever, it also doesn't quite fit together in my mind, since it sounds like you're saying right twice. But whatever, it's still good!

There are far worse folks to be stuck in the middle with than Chrissy... Just don't tell my wife.
