Enjoy the "Don't Crash the Ambulance" words.

Amazing.

Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius....

An eighteen-year-old colleague...eh, scratch that.

A seriously opinionated 18-year-old colleague today was discussing guitarists with me and he stated that although BDG and Clapton are both fine guitarists, Mark Knopfler, he claimed, was even better. I acknowledged the obvious talent of both Clapton and Knopfler, but averred that, for my money, all I needed in a guitarist was that it be Gilmour... just playing any old thing on any old guitar.

This is the same guy I had a heated debate about whether it is right and proper to challenge an inept university lecturer about their methods of teaching - helping adults learn, rather - their subjects.

I say challenge the lazy, money-grubbers who only want to skim over the subject, and to end the class early in time for a few bevvies down the pub.

He says students should never challenge their lecturers. I say, "bollocks"!

I must agree with the assessment of Knopfler being the genuis.

I'm just rediscovering my COmmunique album - One Upon A Time In The West and Lady Writer have been in me head all day long now

Interestingly enough, T-wife just had a hard-earned life-lesson about this in Calc III... Having pointed out, in the university discussion board, that this instructor was both incorrect in her answer and used the wrong method to solve an equation, she was rather full of herself. Then she started losing big points on exams for small things, and had to work her ass off to keep a B.

I have been biting back 'I told you so's' for several months.

Like I told you, B, it's really not necessary to correct every obvious stupidity you observe...

I though Ragpicker's Dream was awesome. Haven't heard Shangri-La yet, but I'm sure it's even better.

Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius....

I know, but some of these stupidities are just too glaringly obvious to ignore, especially, and more importantly I might add, if I am paying for the learning and their ineptitude is screwing up MY chances for success.
