| Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius.... I've just listened to the title track of "Sailing to Philadelphi". Of course Mark Knopfler's guitar is wonderful, but his lyrics are sometimes brilliant. I know he was inspired by Thomas Pynchon's book, has someone red it?

| Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius.... "Done with Bonaparte" is far better live than on "Golden Heart". The studio version was a little bit boring, but tle "Real Live Roardrunning" version with Emmylou Harris on acoustic guitar and backing vocals is awesome. Richard Bennett is magnificent on bouzouki. I hope Gilmour plays bouzouki on his next solo album. A wonderful instrument! Last edited by Hove : 01-05-2007 at 09:38 PM. |

| Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius.... I'm looking right now at a little DVD which is in a special edition of Mark's latest album "Kill To Get Crimson", and he's teasing David Gilmour a little bit. When he talks about how satisfied he is of his new studio (British Grove) he says "I would rather have this than... a boat." ![]()

| Re: Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius.... Knopfler, Fletcher, Rollings, Bennett, McCusker, Worf and Cummings performed a great show in Bergen tonight. Knopfler only played two songs from his last album, but I can understand him. Kill to Get Crimson fits better in smaller venues. "Going Home", "Speedway at Nazareth" and "Telegraph Road" was the highlights of the evening. John McCusker was a great addition to the band.
